Day 4, the team took the awareness to the biggest village in Cicia Island, with a population count of more than 400 people, Mabula Village. The team visited Mabula District School, Cicia High School, the only high school on the island, and concluded the day with a community awareness session - stressing on the importance of identifying the symptopms and actively seeking treatment, while also encouraging preventative measures be implemented in their everyday lives.

Day 3 of our Cicia Outreach, the team visited Neceva Village for a community awareness session, followed by a school visit to Natokalau Primary School, in Natokalau Village, where the day was concluded with a community awareness session - A very interactive and engaging space was created throughout the awareness sessions, allowing those in attendance to ask questions and hold conversations concerning RHD, the symptoms, causes and treatments, along with preventative measures.

Day 2 concluded with a Support Group led by Heart Heroes Fiji Manager, Phyllis Kala, bringing together 16 parents and guardians, along with adult champions living with RHD.
The Support Group was followed by an Awareness Session for the Tarakua community.

The Vanuatu National Hospital (VNH) yesterday received a new echocardiogram machine to support outreach services and improve access to cardiac diagnostic care for infants and children in Vanuatu.

Together for Every Child’s First Step 🦶❤️

What an honor to be invited as Chief Guest for Daku Primary School’s ECE Week. A week that truly is “Together for Every Child’s First Step: Early Learning and Endless Possibilities.”
Yesterday, that first step was about protecting little hearts. Talking to our children, parents and teachers about Rheumatic Heart Disease reminded me why this work matters, because every child deserves the chance at endless possibilities, and that starts with a healthy heart.
RHD is preventable. Together, families, schools, communities,-we can identify it early, protect our little ones, and give them every first step they deserve.❤️❤️

Celebrating a milestone of purpose, perseverance, and leadership 🎓❤️

Heart Heroes Fiji proudly celebrates our Manager, Mrs. Erini Tokarua, on her graduation from University of the South Pacific last month.

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partners, Cure Kids, for supporting this educational journey and for continuing to strengthen Heart Heroes Fiji through investment in the professional development of our team.

Mrs. Tokarua’s journey is one of deep purpose. What began over 15 years ago as a mother’s response to her son’s Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) diagnosis has grown into a powerful legacy of advocacy and service. From raising awareness, to walking alongside individuals living with RHD, to becoming a strong voice for lived experience; her leadership has helped shape a movement. That journey led to the establishment of Heart Heroes Fiji, an organisation committed to ending RHD in Fiji.

This achievement is more than a personal milestone; it strengthens our collective mission. It positions us to serve our communities with greater capacity, deepen our partnerships, and continue working alongside governments and stakeholders toward a resilient, RHD-free future.

Congratulations, Mrs. Tokarua. We thank God for your journey and pray His continued blessings as you lead with strength, compassion, and vision. ❤️🙏
