Last week I was in Paris, welcoming a new life.
Seven days in a home with a mother and her newborn, so the two of them could meet each other before the world came rushing in.
Āyurveda has a name for these weeks: sūtikā paricaryā. Postpartum care is not an afterthought to birth. It is its own discipline, with its own rhythm, oils, foods and silences.
The principle is simple. Birth leaves space in a body. That space asks for warmth, weight, oil, quiet, and food cooked slowly by someone who loves you. Body care. The first ten days are the ones that matter most, and if the birth was long or difficult, they matter even more, not less.
This is the quietest part of my practice. It happens in bedrooms and kitchens, at odd hours, with the curtains half drawn. Nobody photographs it.
It is also the oldest thing we do.
Postpartum care at home, in Cannes and beyond. Get in touch if this is a season you’re approaching and you want to secure a blissful post partum.
