Moving into the summer holidays, Richard and I felt tired and craved for some time together as a family.
When the boys are at school and we're at work it can be chaotic, overwhelming and extraordinarily busy and whilst we plough through it all, most of time with a smile on our face, we do need to step off the wheel of life at times.
This creates space, time to relax and connect, and more memories.
Over the summer, we chatted about how we could hold onto those chilled, relaxed vibes as we move into September, and we came up with 7 things to help us find calm in the chaos:
1. Simplify ~ We deculttered, and we sorted the whole house & donated unwanted items.
2. Get organised ~ We cut any unwanted bills & subscriptions & we sold unwanted goods.
3. Carve out time to relax ~ We gave ourselves permission to say no.
4. Find time to connect ~ Richard has reduced his working week to 4 days as we've recognised as a family that more money can always be earned, but you can never make more time. Since he lost his mum earlier this year, we wanted to create that time for both him & I to have more time together and for him and his Dad.
5. Spend time together as a family ~ This might be Uno at supper time, pancake mornings, trips out, etc
6. Look after our health & wellbeing ~ This can mean the big things & the small things.
7. Take a moment to appreciate everything ~ I've been taking time to appreciate how far we've come on our journey. We are so lucky to have our health, 2 beautiful boys, good friends, and a lovely roof over our heads. Life is good.
This morning, I'm honouring some of the commitments. I'm taking some time to myself, the house is empty and everyone is out doing their own thing and I'm relaxing, drinking a cuppa watching the NTAs and it feels good! 🙌🏼
