//Come join sooth your mind and work your muscles at the campus Yoga-Club//
Since your club is quite new, can you briefly introduce your club and the activities you have?
Yoga is a practice that focuses on people themselves, it is about breathing and stretching. The stretching and moves are helping students to get in a shape that is good to breathe and mediation. It is a practice that aims to facilitate mediation because mediation is not easy, it is a tool to get to mediation. Yoga is a sport that strengthen our back and abs, it is holding yourself and everything is connected. Yoga really helps even when any part of your body is hurt, the postures we do can help you relax your muscle and release the distention. Our group mainly two types of yoga: Pilates and Acroyoga, on Tuesday we de Acroyoga and on Wednesday we do Pilates.
How long have you practised Yoga ?
I practiced Yoga since I was very young together with my mum, as she is a yoga teacher.
Why do you think Yoga is different from other sports? How does Yoga help you release your stress ?
I think Acroyoga is more like other kinds of sport, it has to be practised by two people, a base and a flyer. When someone is on the feet of someone they need to have strong faith and trust in each other.
Yoga helps you to focus on what is important, it offers you some space to think. When your mind is filled with too many things, it is difficult to prioritise things, so by doing yoga you will be able to free out some space and have a clearer mindset. Hence, you will feel less stressful after you know the thing which bothers you may be as important as you think and you will find your problem is actually much simpler and easy to solve.
Stress can be regulated and people feel stressed because they try to reach perfection. While in Yoga, there is no goal, you just go with your rhythm and pace, you try to improve yourself and there is no clear rule to follow. All you have to do is be present at the moment and breathe.
What is the biggest challenge in practising Yoga?
Mediation is hard in yoga because you have to focus on your breathing, yoga is not an end but mediation is what yoga aims for, we usually meditate after we practice yoga. It is very hard to have nothing in our mind.
What advice would you give to our students who are interested to try Yoga?
Don’t afraid to give a try. You can explore different types of yoga once you start to practice, during your practice you will find the best type of yoga that corresponds to your need and teacher that suits you most. I think everyone needs yoga, my mum used to have many physical problems, but all the illness just disappeared after she practised yoga, it is indeed an invisible medicine for people.
Thanks for meetin with us Yoga-Club and to our students please check it out!
Lots of Love,
