Scaling Up Nutrition Movement

Scaling Up Nutrition Movement Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) is a country-led movement advancing the SDGs through

When children are properly nourished
they can grow up to be healthy and productive. When children are healthy and productive
their families, communities, and countries
become stronger. That’s why 65 countries around the world have
committed to making nutrition a priority. And why global partners are working
together to support the efforts of
the countries. Together, we can achieve
what no single effort could,
and make the world a healthier,
stronger place for us all.

Climate change is making it harder for families in Honduras to grow food. But communities found a way forward 🌱

In Los Mangos, families are growing vegetables, selling fresh produce, and supplying local schools.

The result?

🥬 More nutritious food
💰 More income for families
🏫 Fresh produce for school meals
🌱 Greater resilience to drought

This is what happens when nutrition, agriculture, and community action work together.

Watch how communities in Honduras are protecting their nutrition and building stronger futures.

Today is the International Day of .

Remittances are the money people send home to support their families. For many households, they help pay for food, school, health care and everyday needs.

In , the Nafa programme shows how financial support can go even further when combined with care.

Through a “cash plus care” model, families receive financial support alongside education on health, and entrepreneurship, helping communities build a path out of poverty and malnutrition.

Resilience grows when families have the resources, knowledge and support they need to thrive.

No one should get sick from food.
And yet, almost 1 in 10 people fall ill from unsafe food, and 420,000 die every year.

And the good news? Most of this is preventable. 🌍

This , let’s recognise how SUN countries are building the solutions.
✳️Nepal enacted the Food Safety and Quality Act 2024.
✳️Cambodia developed a national food fortification strategy.
✳️Indonesia conducted a consumer survey to strengthen food labelling policy.

From burden to solutions. Safe food everywhere.

Across Africa, malnutrition is a growing reality for over 300 million people.

When climate disasters strike fragile countries, nutrition becomes a matter of survival – yet only 13% of humanitarian food aid currently goes towards funding long-term nutrition resilience.

We must move beyond food relief to sustaining livelihoods. While fewer than one in five countries have integrated nutrition into their climate responses, SUN countries are already proving what's possible.

Sometimes the most powerful food solution is also the simplest 🤱.

In El Salvador:
👶 8 in 10 newborns begin breastfeeding within the first hour of life
🍼 Exclusive breastfeeding has reached 66.8% for babies under 6 months
🏢 400 lactation rooms have opened in workplaces and public spaces

These results didn’t happen by chance. They came from national action, community support and policies that help mothers breastfeed successfully.

Because supporting breastfeeding means supporting families and futures 💛
