📰 A new clinical study is now available:
In the most recent AGA guidelines, LSM by VCTE® (FibroScan) has evolved from a secondary triage tool in older NAFLD algorithms to a central component of newer MASLD pathways.
Where it was once used mainly to clarify indeterminate FIB-4 results through simple cutoffs (12 kPa), it is now more tightly integrated into risk stratification, helping to reduce indeterminate cases and guide both MASH treatment initiation and monitoring 📊.
The updated guidelines also broaden its application: screening is now recommended for patients with obesity or overweight who have at least one additional cardiometabolic risk factor, and clinicians are encouraged to proceed directly with FibroScan®, bypassing FIB-4 in specialty or primary care settings where the technology is readily available, particularly in individuals with diabetes.
