The energy you’re looking for isn’t somewhere else. It’s trapped inside the story you keep defending.

Most of us spend more energy protecting ourselves from discomfort than we do actually living. The armour is exhausting, even when we can’t feel it anymore.

Here in Scotland, I’m watching it happen in real time. Women arriving tired, carrying weight they’ve been holding. And then, slowly, something shifts. Not because they found something new, but because they stopped bracing.

That’s the work. Not adding more. Getting out of your own way. Facing what’s uncomfortable and letting the energy that was locked up in defense finally move.

What would be available to you if you weren’t working so hard to protect yourself?

Your thoughts are lying to you.

Not all of them, not always – but most of what your mind tells you about who you are and what you’re capable of isn’t based in reality. It’s an old story. And you don’t have to keep believing it.

When you stop running from the hard stuff and start meeting it directly, something shifts. The pain that surfaces isn’t there to break you. It’s there to be released.

Beneath all of it is a well you haven’t reached yet. Energy, clarity, peace – not as distant goals, but as things that already live in you.

This is the work. The willingness to go deeper than the story.

You’re more capable than realize.

Welcome to

Imagine what waking up here for a week would do for your nervous system.

We didn’t stumble into this. Months of intention went into making this moment real – and watching it come to life is something I don’t have words for yet.

What I do know is that my exhale is already longer. My mind is already quieter. Not because this place is paradise, but because I finally stopped waiting.

No one has ever regretted going on retreat. What they regret is waiting too long.

If something in you is saying next time – I want you to take that seriously. Tomorrow isn’t promised.
Start now.

Today can be the best day of your life – not because it’ll be easy, but because it’s the only one you have. Even among the storm, the mess, the chaos, it’s the mindset you meet it with that matters.

Double tap if you’re willing to try.

Yoga could be described as the process of letting go. But what does that actually look like in real life?

Something triggers us. A flutter of frustration, anger, overwhelm – whatever it is – bubbles up. In that moment we have a choice: are we going to let this thing ruin our day, or are we going to let it go? Let’s say because we practice yoga we decide we want to let it go. But that’s really hard to do.

Here’s what I’ve noticed. I want to be the person who can let it go. And so I do – about eighty percent. But that twenty percent I’m still holding on to quietly turns into resentment.

When I recognize I’m still holding on, I offer myself empathy. How human of me to not be able to let go fully. And often, that combination of recognition and self-empathy is enough to release a little more. Then I’m at ten percent. Then five. Deeper and deeper layers, until there isn’t any resentment left.

How human are we to react instead of respond? How human are we to find ourselves here yet again?

The more empathy we give ourselves, the more we move through it. Not above it – through it.

I’m so excited to introduce you to my friend Yael!

We met not long after I moved to Tel Aviv, more than fifteen years ago. We practiced yoga together, studied together, taught together. She spoke at my wedding. She’s one of those people who has been woven into my life in a way that’s hard to explain but easy to feel.

She is one of only 22 Debra Silverman-certified astrologers, and one of just 3 who do relationship readings for Debra. Over the years, working with more than a thousand people, she developed the Planetary Balance method, which has helped her clients and students move from exhaustion and self-doubt into their soul’s promise.

She’s read both my chart and my son’s. That work gave me language for things I’d been sensing but couldn’t name, and real clarity when I needed to make decisions – for him and for myself. Yael’s presence is warm and precise. I felt genuinely cared for, even when the session stirred up emotions I wasn’t expecting.

Yael is offering a free masterclass exclusively for this community.

She’ll teach you how to work with your negative thoughts (which we all have, by the way) – without the inner war that most positive-thinking approaches create.

Join her on Saturday, June 6, at 10 AM ET / 5 PM EDT.

There’s a word I made up for the feeling I’ve spent most of my life trying to avoid.

I call it my enoughness.

For you it might be something else – fear, jealousy, anxiety.

What would be possible if we could allow ourselves to feel it, offer ourselves some compassion for the experience, and then let it go.

You know your day goes better when you practice. You know it. And still, when it’s time to actually get on the mat, there are a million reasons why not.

The dishes. The laundry. The emails that keep arriving. Everyone needs something from you right now. It’s always felt easier to tend to that first.

Why do we resist the things that give us so much?

Part of it, I think, is that we’ve decided what practice has to look like in order to count. And when we can’t do that version, we do nothing at all.

What I’ve learned over twenty years is to let go of what I think practice needs to be. Some days it’s three conscious breaths. Some days it’s an hour of asana. Most days it’s somewhere in between — meditation, gentle movement, rest.

The practice is there to serve you in your life. To help you feel better in your bodymind. It’s not one more thing you’re failing to get done.

On the days you practice, you already know the difference. More ease. More clarity. A spaciousness that wasn’t there before.

Your mat is waiting. It doesn’t need you to be ready. It just needs you to show up.

You’re already doing so much. The last thing your practice should feel like is one more thing you’re failing at.

And yet, sometimes that’s exactly how it feels. One more thing on the list that isn’t getting done. Instead of feeling better, you just feel worse.

So I keep coming back to one question: how do I want to feel after I practice? Not whether I did it perfectly. Not whether I did enough. Just – how do I feel now? What’s the residue left in my body, mind, and nervous system?

That single question has kept me on my mat for years. It’s not the strength or the mobility that keeps me showing up. It’s the clarity, the ease, the feeling that I can actually meet my day.
Do you ask yourself this?

I just sent a short meditation to my newsletter community. If you want to receive it, head to the link in my bio and sign up.
