Perimenopause is the new Moon; getting blamed for everything— a potential “eureka!” answer to explain what you’re feeling. Now I’m not saying that what you’re experiencing ISN’T being caused by perimenopause— I’m just saying I’m suddenly hearing the word everywhere, and I’m cautious when we find a vague explanatory label and cease to search for alternative causes to whatever we may be suffering from. So just be careful, keep searching, keep looking within, keep holding up a mirror— but also, do forgive yourself… because it might just be perimenopause.

It’s not an easy decision— there’s always that niggling in my head that’s like, “you could get a few more things on your to-do list done if you stay home instead”. But my deep soul knows that the most productive thing I can do right now is go outside and reconnect, see some green, hear some forest noises and breathe.

The distinction feels subtle but important.

Doubting yourself means distrusting your judgement and undermining your own experience. It can leave us dependent on external validation. Often, it develops through criticism, invalidation, or environments that taught us not to trust ourselves. Over time, those voices can become an inner critic.

Questioning yourself is different. It means staying curious about your assumptions, examining your thinking without attacking yourself, and remaining open to being wrong without assuming that you are. It is the pursuit of truth rather than reassurance.

Questioning yourself comes from curiosity and self-trust. It is more likely to develop when parents, teachers, and mentors support autonomy, encourage exploration, and help us learn from our own decisions.

If you didn’t have those experiences, it’s legitimate to feel sad. You can grieve that.

And you can slowly build these capacities within yourself—with learning, practice, self-compassion, and perhaps the support of a therapist.

Question yourself.

Don’t doubt yourself.

No 1 life hack: meditation. It physically changes your nervous system and your brain— no lie.
3 tips for meditating that you may not have heard:
1. Take a moment to write down all your thoughts before meditating— dump them out into a journal to help clear the mind.
2. Set an alarm for 15-20 minutes rather than easing into meditation with short sits. This allows your brain and nervous system enough time to actually settle so that you can get a glimpse of what meditation can feel like.
3. If a thought comes up That you don’t want to forget, gently come out of meditation and write it down so you don’t feel the need to cling to it. (But pause your timer while you’re writing 😉)

I had this realization today: if I worked as a restaurant manager in Geneva, in 1-3 years I would probably be able to afford to buy my own place. But for the life of me, I don’t want to do that. Because I’d have to continue that life to pay the mortgage— and I don’t want my life to be oriented around working to make money. I want my life to be oriented around work that is fulfilling, work that I love and has meaning in the world. That is what I value— more than owning my own place. So I should not hold society’s idea of what it means to be 40– I should hold mine. 40 to you may mean: house, relationship, family. To me it means: alignment, happiness, peace, balance, soul fulfillment.
