As the ISAN-EFAS 2026 has comes to an end, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all participants, speakers, colleagues, and the organizing committee who made this meeting such a fruitful and inspiring experience. It really was a pleasure to share these days of scientific exchange, discussion and new connections with colleagues from around the world.

And the journey continues! 🚀 In just a few months, in December, the very first EFAS Masterclass will take place in Zagreb. 🇭🇷

🧠❤️ Looking back at today‘s Symposium on the Interplay of Interoception and the Autonomic Nervous System in Health and Disease, chaired by Prof Roland Thijs, bringing together fascinating perspectives on the complex dialogue between the brain, body and its autonomic nervous system.

The programme explored the science of interoception, brain–heart and other brain–organ interactions, and the clinical implications of interoceptive-autonomic changes. The selected abstracts further expanded the discussion — from heart rate variability, physical fitness and happiness to hepatic vagal activity, glucose homeostasis and the neural control of swallowing.

A stimulating afternoon of science, discussion and new perspectives on how we sense and regulate our internal world. 🔬✨

Beautiful to see the pupil praise the merits of his mentor: Prof. Pietro Guaraldi introducing the EFAS Giant, the Maestro Prof. Pietro Cortelli, for his keynote lecture on “Sleep and the Autonomic Nervous System: Clinical Insights and Pathophysiology.”

Afterwards, Prof. A. Fanciulli and Prof. R. D. Thijs awarded Prof. P. Cortelli the EFAS Legend Award. 🏆
