So, just an update on behalf of Equine Therapists. Specifically my practices.

● I always adhere to biohazard concerns (skin diseases, flu etc). All equipment is cleaned between each horse. And gloves are worn where necessary.

●I will not treat any yards or horses with confirmed or suspected contagious illness.

● At present I am only doing one yard/horse each day, so no cross-contamination can occur.

● Before I do my own horses I will wash and change before treating another horse in a separate yard.

● I shall review this as information is confirmed regarding local/South Wales infection data is confirmed.

But for now, I apologise but only one horse/yard each day.

So this is Maisey; who I've been treating for years. This visit she was demonstrating some tension in her shoulder/scapula. Her response will tell you all you need to know. It is important to make sure that your horse is up to date with their flu vaccination, with confined cases of Equine Flu this Spring. Did you realise all horses are at risk of flu, even if they don’t leave the yard as the virus can travel through the air up to 2km. Vaccination is the most effective tool you have to protect your horse. If your horse is unvaccinated, please contact the practice to book an appointment, as for one month, from the 1st of June, we will provide your second vaccine for free as part of the primary course!
