The medicine path.
When was the last time you truly reflected on yourself??
Not just your healing.
Not just your ceremonies.
Not just your spiritual experiences.
But the way you move through every relationship, every conversation and every moment of conflict?
The medicine path isn't measured by the number of ceremonies we've sat. It's measured by who we become between them.
Do we make assumptions, or do we ask with curiosity?
Do we meet people as they truly are or do we meet the stories we've created about them?
Do we speak our truth with respect, creating a space where it can be received or do we allow our words to become another expression of our own hurt?
Can we take responsibility for our part when we've caused pain, recognising that accountability is one of the deepest expressions of love?
Can we remember that every person is carrying a history we may never fully understand?
The Four Agreements remind us not to make assumptions, not to take things personally, to be impeccable with our word and always to do our best. These are not simply beautiful ideas - they are practices to embody, day after day.
Walking a path of higher consciousness is not about becoming perfect. It is about becoming more honest, more humble more compassionate and more aware of ourselves.
It is about cultivating integrity, where our thoughts, our words and our actions become aligned.
It is about learning to pause before reacting, to listen before concluding, to ask before assuming, and to seek understanding before judgement.
This doesn't mean having weak boundaries or accepting behaviour that doesn't honour you. Healthy boundaries are an expression of self-respect, and self-respect allows us to meet others with greater love rather than resentment.
Maybe the greatest question the medicine asks us is not, "How spiritual are you?"
It asks...
How do you treat another human being when you're hurt, when you're triggered, when you disagree, or when your heart is challenged?
Maybe that's where the real ceremony begins, within self.
With Love Dave.
Ps - I hope to be able to post more, but currently researching and writing my dissertation for my Masters in Transpersonal Psychology, which I will post once concluded.
