🩡 From damaged to natural looking.

Traumatic toenails don't always need to be hidden. With professional toenail reconstruction, it's often possible to restore a natural appearance while protecting the nail as it grows.

This result was achieved in just one appointment.

If a damaged or misshapen toenail is affecting your confidence, I'd be happy to discuss whether reconstruction is suitable for you.

One treatment. A big difference. πŸ’™

This transformation wasn't just about removing hard skin - it was about doing it safely and precisely.

One thing that surprises many patients is that I perform a dry pedicure, so there's no need to soak your feet before treatment.
Instead of water, I use professional softening solutions that allow me to control exactly how much the hard skin is softened. This means I can work more accurately, helping to reduce the risk of removing too much healthy skin.

Another little behind the scenes fact: if you're comfortable doing so, I may ask you to lie on your front during treatment. This gives me the best angle to work on the soles of your feet, allowing for a more precise and thorough result.

Because great foot care isn't just about the result you can see - it's about using the right techniques to get there. πŸ‘£

🩡 Almost 2 months at Broomhill Clinic already!

It's hard to believe that nearly two months have passed since I opened the doors to my new clinic room at Broomhill Clinic.

I just wanted to say thank you.

Thank you to everyone who has chosen Medicus Foot Clinic, whether you've been with me from the very beginning or you've recently found me. Seeing so many familiar faces returning, alongside so many new patients, has been incredibly rewarding.

A special thank you to the wonderful reception team at Broomhill Clinic for answering your calls, helping with bookings and making everyone feel welcome from the moment they get in touch. I couldn't do it without your support. πŸ’™

Thank you as well to everyone who has taken the time to leave a Google or Facebook review. Every recommendation and five-star review genuinely helps my small business grow and I appreciate every single one.

Because of your support, I've already been able to invest back into the clinic. Over the past few weeks I've introduced:

πŸ‘£ A new professional, ultra-quiet drill for a more comfortable treatment experience.
πŸ‘£ A premium treatment chair to keep you comfortable while allowing me to provide the best possible care.
πŸ‘£ A new clinical trolley to improve organisation and create more space in the treatment room.

This is only the beginning. Over the coming months I'll continue improving the clinic, investing in new equipment, attending further training and developing my services to provide the highest standard of care possible.

Thank you for your trust, your recommendations and your continued support. It truly means the world to me.

Here's to the next chapter! 🩡

One treatment. A big difference 🩡

Fungal nails don't always need to stay thick, discoloured or make you hide your feet.

This transformation was achieved in just one appointment using a flexible nail reconstruction, giving an immediate natural-looking result while allowing antifungal treatment to continue underneath.

- Natural appearance
- Flexible and comfortable
- Safe to wear during antifungal treatment
- Feel confident in sandals again

If you're struggling with fungal nails and would like to find out whether this treatment is suitable for you, email your enquiry together with a clear photo of your nails to [email protected]. I'll be happy to advise whether you're a good candidate for nail reconstruction. πŸ’™

Running the Aberdeen Half Marathon? Don't forget about your feet! πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

With the Aberdeen Half Marathon just around the corner, now is the perfect time to give your feet a little extra attention. A few simple steps can make a big difference on race day from me:

Before the race:

πŸ‘£ Trim your toenails straight across a few days before the event and gently smooth or round the edges with a nail file. Nails that are too long can repeatedly hit the front of your shoes, leading to bruising or even nail loss.

πŸ‘£ If you have thickened toenails, consider having them professionally reduced before the race. Thinner nails are more flexible, reduce pressure inside your shoes and are less likely to become traumatised during long distance running.

πŸ‘£ If you regularly develop blisters in certain areas, protect those spots before the race using fleece padding or other appropriate blister-prevention products. Never try something completely new on race day.

πŸ‘£ Make sure your trainers fit properly, with enough room for your toes to move. Feet naturally swell during longer runs.

After the race:

🩹 If you develop a blister, avoid bursting it yourself if possible. The skin acts as a natural barrier against infection. Keep the area clean, protected and monitor for signs of infection.

🩸 If a toenail becomes dark, painful or develops pressure underneath from bleeding - a bruised nail, don't ignore it. Early assessment may allow the pressure to be relieved, helping to reduce pain and in some cases, improve the chances of the nail remaining attached. The longer the pressure is left, the greater the risk of the nail lifting or being lost.

If your feet are sore after the event, or you've picked up any running-related foot problems, I'm always happy to help.

Good luck to everyone taking part in the Aberdeen Half Marathon! πŸ…

🩡 Healthy feet. Confident you.

Big upgrade at Medicus Foot Clinic!

I'm so excited to share that my brand-new treatment chair and drill have arrived and are now fully installed! πŸŽ‰

This investment is all about making your visits even more comfortable. The new treatment chair offers improved comfort and support, while the new drill is incredibly quiet, creating a calmer, more relaxing experience during your appointment.

I'm always looking for ways to improve the care I provide and to make every visit as comfortable as possible.

I can't wait to welcome you to the upgraded clinic! πŸ’™

I'd also like to say a special thank you to the fantastic team at DLT Podiatry Supplies , especially Nick Mighall, who personally travelled all the way from Yorkshire to deliver my new treatment chair outside of clinic hours. This helped minimise disruption to the clinic and my patients and I truly appreciate the exceptional service and dedication. Thank you for going above and beyond! πŸ’™

For elderly patients, regular foot care is about far more than appearance - it's about protecting mobility, independence, and preventing wounds that can become serious.

This patient presented with severely thickened, overgrown nails causing excessive pressure on the toes. Left untreated, these pressure points can lead to skin breakdown, painful sores and ulcers, particularly in older adults with fragile skin or poor circulation.
Following careful nail reduction and pressure relief, the toes were left more comfortable and at lower risk of developing wounds.
βœ” Reduced painful pressure points
βœ” Improved comfort and footwear fit
βœ” Helped prevent skin breakdown and ulceration
βœ” Promoted safer mobility and independence

Prevention is always better than treatment.

Regular foot care plays a vital role in reducing the risk of pressure sores and foot ulcers, helping people stay active and comfortable and maintaining their quality of life.

✨ Involuted Nail Transformation ✨

This patient attended with a painful involuted toenail causing pressure and discomfort along the nail edges. Rather than resorting to nail surgery, I treated the nail using a Nickel-Titanium (NiTi) wire brace, secured with dental composite. This gentle bracing system gradually lifts and reshapes the nail, reducing pressure and allowing it to grow in a healthier position.

One of the biggest advantages of nail bracing is that many patients experience relief very quickly, often noticing improvement within the first few weeks. However, while the change can be seen early, the brace needs to be maintained and periodically replaced over a longer period to help retain the correction and minimise the risk of recurrence.

Involuted (over-curved) nails are common and can develop as a result of biomechanics, repeated trauma and changes in the shape of the toe. They are frequently seen in people with foot deformities such as bunions (hallux valgus) and may also occur in those with chronic inflammatory joint conditions, where long-term changes in joint alignment and pressure can affect the way the nail grows. Over time, this excessive curvature can lead to pain, recurrent inflammation and ingrown nails.

If you've noticed:

πŸ”Ή Nails curving excessively at the sides
πŸ”Ή Recurrent ingrown nails
πŸ”Ή Pain or pressure when wearing shoes
πŸ”Ή Difficulty cutting your nails comfortably
πŸ”Ή Changes associated with bunions or toe deformities

…don't ignore it. Early treatment can help prevent ongoing pain and avoid the need for nail surgery.

🩡 Healthy feet. Confident you.
