So the '90s are back, yeah?

Whilst performing this piercing, we chatted about the timeless aesthetic of a septum piercing with spikes. It can be punk, goth, preppy, minimalist, or maximalist all at the same time, and I rarely think there's any other piercing that has that effect.

I remember when a spiked septum was enough to make people assume all sorts of things about you. These days, the same jewellery can be worn by a corporate professional, a university student, a parent doing the weekly food shop, or someone heading to a gig on the weekend.

That's one of the things I love most about body piercing. It's personal. The jewellery might be the same, but the person wearing it never is.

After years of piercing, owning Utopia Body Arts here in Aberdeen, and meeting thousands of clients from all walks of life, I've learned that great piercings don't belong to a single subculture. They evolve with the people who wear them.

And somehow, through every trend cycle, the spiked septum just keeps showing up.

Still bold. Still timeless. Still making a statement.
