If you have never experienced a treatment from Catherine, then you absolutely should.

It is the most lush experience and I highly recommend that you indulge.

Not sure what treatment you want. Just pop Catherine a wee message.

What are you waiting for.....

Postnatal treatments.

πŸ™ I am so greatful that so many of you trust me to support you not only during a fertility journey, throughout your pregnancy but then once baby arrives.

πŸ‘Ά I always want you to know I'll work around you.. Always get in touch if you have any questions or want me to take some extra time out of my diary for you. I've done many treatments with all ages of children tagging along. X

☯️ In Chinese medicine the womb is warm to support pregnancy (fertility and pregnancy clients hear all about this from me with tips throughout their journey) afterwards, when baby is earthside you also need warmth to heal. One of the best ways to do this is through treatments with me. We decide together what you need depending on how you are feeling.

πŸ’† Massage where we allow you to sit upright, side lie or lie face down. Lots of warming strokes with heated oil on the heated bed, gentle but firm easing off tension and warming those muscles. You pick the areas you would like massaged, this is not a set routine and needs to be as individual as you are.

☯️ Lots of ladies choose reflexology, sending blood flow throughout the body to balance organs, restore hormonal equilibrium and give the deep sense of relaxation that reflexology is so good at.
Some clients ask for add ons like scalp massage, facial massage, lymph drainage... Just ask nothing is too much trouble.

πŸ§‘β€πŸΌ Some mummies want to attend by themselves, a moment totally for them to relax and unwind from the pressure of their new responsibilities. Others choose to bring babies with them... Sometimes they sleep in the relaxing treatment room in their pram, other times they are tucked in with mummy, often feeding. We have plenty of space in my beautiful clinic so you can always ask someone to bring baby, grab a coffee and a book and wait in the waiting area for you if you with baby, close but still allowing you some peace. You choose I work around you.

🚼 Remember I am also qualified as a baby massage instructor so sometimes a session for mummy becomes a session for baby too. I will always work around you x

Do you have anything age 3+ you could donate?
Happy to collect from people and drop off.

πŸ’œ A Pre-Loved Ask From Us.. πŸ’œ

As the colder weather starts to creep in, we’re looking for warm, cosy clothing for little ones aged 3+.

We’re also looking for prams and buggies that are in excellent condition and less than 10 years old.

Something that your children no longer need could make such a huge difference to another local family. Whether it’s a warm coat for a little one walking to school or a pram that gives a parent the chance to get out with their baby. We know each item will be loved!

When? πŸ•₯
Monday-Friday between 10am-3pm.

Where? 🏑
Grove House, Howe Moss Road, Dyce, AB21 0ER.

If you aren’t able to donate, please share this post - we promise it helps us reach more of our community in the hope we can fill our shelves before it gets too cold.

As always, thank you for your support. πŸ’œ

An interesting wee reminder this gives us.

EVERYONE should be treated equally, given the same support and choices. Are we really a society that defines our Maternity care based on someone's size and age etc.

This feels like a step backwards. πŸ€”

I had baby 4 and 5 at age 41 and 43, and that was classed as 'old' and dare I say the awful term.... a geriatric mum! The cut off then was 40.
How f**kin rude. πŸ˜‚

Did you know the 'new' cut off for being classed an older pregnant mum is 35!! WTF! That's not old.
I also had my 1st at 32 and my twins at 35.

All my pregnancies have been normal and straight forward, as were the births, even the last 2. I've been very blessed. πŸ₯°

As a Midwife I had great individualised care from my Fave Consultant and Midwife.

But whilst I want this experience for everyone I am very aware it's not as easy to achieve as it was for me as a Midwife. It can sometimes feel like a battle, and you are left feeling like there is something wrong with you.
There isn't. 😘

Please know you are welcome in my classes no matter age or size. Yoga is for everyone and it has huge benefits for pregnancy and birth.

Everyone is welcome in my teaching spaces. and I will try my very best to support you through your pregnancy to achieve the birth you hope for.

Birth is for everyone.

Now f**k off labelling people.

"It's really clear that we need to stop attributing birth outcomes solely to women's size, age, and/or race (or whatever other characteristic will become a so-called risk factor next) and recognise the part that fatphobia, agism, and racism play in outcomes."

That's a quote from a blog post in which I discuss an important labour progress myth.

That is, the idea that slow labour progress in women who are older and/or have a higher BMI can be attributed to their size/shape or age.

Because even if those things play some part (and the jury is out on this), there are many other factors.

The most important of which is the attitudes of the care provider and the guidelines that are imposed when women are giving birth in systems of maternity care.

I've written a lot about this in my book on Plus Size Pregnancy, and my blog post explains how studies have helped us better understand this area.

And debunk the myths.

You can find my blog post at https://www.sarawickham.com/research-updates/labour-progress-myths/

I hope you find it useful

Hmm, this may be a bit of a controversial post. But I feel I need to share my thoughts a little....

I don't think I would use the words 'excited to share these stats!'
I honestly do not think these stats are something to be proud of.

These stats show an increase in the c section rate from 50% to approx 60% in the last 2 years if you access the previous stats with the link
Spontaneous birth rate is also down.
And the Induction rate is 39%

Which is saddening to see. 😒

What has happened to our belief in birth. That the Femaie body is capable of amazing things if patience and belief is shown.

We are so incredibly lucky to have interventions such as C sections, Inductions and assisted births for when they are medically needed.
But do we really have to start using them as routine and as a 'just in case' measure.

The stats I would really like to see shared are how many predicted big babies were actually Big babies at birth

And

How many Inductions failed and resulted in a c section

These figures would absolutely help expectant parents to make informed choices on their birth, instead of having to make these big choices based on predicted info from scans and fear.

Only thorough conversation will these figures change.
Otherwise I fear these figures will continue to rise and the Vaginal birth figure will continue to diminish.

To clarify, I am not Anti induction or Anti c section if done for Medical reasons.
But coercive 'chats' and using guidelines to scare parents into these interventions is becoming too common and the trauma it causes lasts a lifetime.

So take your time, think it through, explore your choices, discuss it with other birthworkers.

Your positive birth experience comes from making the choices that are right for you, no matter what they are. As long as you feel you have a choice, you are in control of what happens and the decision is one you are happy with then that is the birth for you.

We’re excited to share our latest infographic highlighting maternity services across Grampian from January to June 2026!

Please note: The number of births reflects the number of people who gave birth - so totals may differ from the number of babies due to twins or other multiple births.
