A very sad farewell to our Inverurie & Westhill Team Manager, Mo, who spent her last day in the office with us today.

Mo has been with Aberness for 11 years and progressed from Support Worker to Admin to Team Manager during that time. She has played a huge part in Aberness and we will treasure our fun (and stressful πŸ€ͺ) times with her forever.

We wish Mo the very best and have no doubt she will thrive in her next venture.

We are delighted to have Erem on board, who will be filling Mo’s role. Mo and Erem have been working closely alongside each other over the past few weeks to ensure a smooth transition for all of our clients and staff.

Now time to celebrate Mo and her time with Aberness… πŸ₯‚πŸΎ

A huge congratulations to our Peterhead Community Support Worker, Lana, who recently achieved her SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare (SCQF Level 6) πŸ₯³πŸŒŸ

Lana completed her SVQ with Aberness and was supported by our in-house SVQ Assessor, Gail. Lana was kind enough to share her experience:

"I was nervous to start my SVQ, as life is already a juggle with having 2 little ones so I didn’t know where I was going find the time to fit this in. Once I got started I realised it was not as bad as I had thought it would be. Lynn is so helpful and is always there if you need more advice on the work you are doing. Thank you very much Lynn for everything πŸ₯°"

Lana, this achievement reflects the knowledge, expertise and dedication you hold for your role! You should be very proud of yourself ☺️

We are delighted to announce that our Peterhead Community Support Worker, Egija, has completed her SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare (SCQF Level 6) πŸŒŸπŸŽ‰

Egija was supported by our in-house SVQ Assessor, Gail, and has kindly agreed for us to share her experience:

"I’m proud to share that I have successfully completed my SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare.
At the beginning, I wasn’t sure if I would manage to complete it in time. Life was busy, and I felt like I didn’t have enough time to study. But this experience has shown me that with determination and commitment, you really can achieve anything you set your mind to.
This journey has taken hard work, dedication, discipline and resilience, and I’m grateful for everything I’ve learned along the way. Through self-reflection, I’ve been able to recognise my strengths, understand areas for improvement, and continue developing my practice to provide the best possible care and support.
It has strengthened not only my skills and knowledge, but also my confidence and professional values."

Egija, a huge congratulations to you! You have done amazing and we are all so pleased for you πŸ₯°

A massive congratulations to our Ellon Community Support Worker, Jane, who recently achieved her SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare (SCQF Level 6) πŸ₯³πŸŒŸ

Jane completed her SVQ in-house with Aberness and was supported by our SVQ Assessor, Gail. Jane was asked how she found the experience and here is what she had to say:

"I am so glad I have done my SVQ6. I have definitely learned a lot, specially listening more to the clients. When Gail asked for a photo, I knew why, Facebook 😁 One of the reasons I agreed to do it, it just shows it's never too late to achieve something in your life, thinking of my age πŸ˜† I'm very proud of myself. Thanks to my assessor Gail who has been fantastic to me."

Jane, congratulations again! We are all very proud of you and hope you will be celebrating this amazing achievement πŸ₯°

Congratulations to our Inverurie Community Support Worker, Chloe, who recently achieved her SVQ Level 6 in Social Services and Healthcare πŸ€©πŸ‘πŸΌβ

Chloe completed the qualification with our in-house SVQ Assessor, Gail, and when asked how she found the experience, she stated:

β€œI was asked to complete my SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare, I was very nervous to begin this due to not doing anything computer related since leaving school. Once I got into it and began writing about my experiences and what I do to help my clients I found this easier than I anticipated. I would encourage anyone who gets this chance to do this as it really helps you see what you do on a daily basis with the clients and for your future. I would like to thank my support such as Gail and my family for encouraging me to keep going and enjoy what I do & Aberness for this opportunity. Thank you all”

Well done to you, Chloe. After several years with Aberness, we are delighted you have attained a qualification that highlights your knowledge and dedication to your Support Worker role 😊

A huge congratulations to our SVQ Assessor, Gail, for achieving her SCQF Level 7 in Social Services and Healthcare 🀩πŸ₯³πŸŒŸ

Gail is often the one prompting staff to share their SVQ experience, and so in this instance, it was nice to give Gail that same opportunity:

My SVQ SCQF HHSC Level 7 began 6 months into my new SVQ Assessor post with Aberness! πŸ˜…
It has been both challenging and rewarding all at the same time. As an SVQ Assessor, I was keen to continue my own skills and knowledge, and this award gave me the perfect opportunity to do just that. It was also 25 years since undertaking my last qualification, and I wish I had done it sooner. However, with the fantastic support from my Assessor, Helen, it gave me the confidence to succeed. Balancing my studies alongside assessing and marking candidates required a lot of focus, hard work and determination. However, I stayed committed and pushed through every challenge.
I'm incredibly proud of what I've achieved, especially at nearly 56 years old, and it just goes to show you're never too old to learn and grow! This experience has strengthened my practice and I'm really looking forward to supporting candidates through this qualification using my updated knowledge and understanding.
I've already started to take on my next challenge, working towards my qualification in Internal Verification, and I'll stay just as focused. It's easy to get comfortable in familiar routines, but stepping outside my comfort zone and trying something new is so worthwhile. Don't be afraid of new challenges, they're just another notch in your belt, as they say.
Thanks to everyone who has supported me, it means a lot!"

Congratulations again, Gail! This recent achievement, and your current endeavour to gain yet another qualification, is an inspiration to us all πŸ‘πŸΌ
