There are many different types of hair loss and there can be many different causes. At AH+SC we take the trouble and guess work out of your hands and let you concentrate on doing other more enjoyable things!

At a consultation, we go through an 8 page consultation to be able to establish what is happening and why you are suffering from hair loss. This can show us many things, and often by the end of the consultation we have a fairly good idea of what may be the reason behind it. It is all too easy to say ‘its my age’ or ‘I’ve always had rubbish hair’ and this can be the case but more often than not, it is not the reason. There is a very small portion of patients that have hair problems due to age or having always been in poor shape.

At Aberdeen Hair and Scalp Clinic, we have a specific blood panel designed especially for us, which includes 13 of the most common and easiest blood tests to do for establishing what might be the cause of any hair or scalp conditions. Any patient of AH+SC gets a £20 discount of the blood test through AB10 Clinic. If any patient wishes to upgrade for other health checking, this can be done and still have the 13 main test within a larger panel. The reception is only manned part time but you can leave a message and we will get back to you.

You can have an appointment with the Trichologist first and then discuss if a blood test is required. Alternatively if you have already had tests done at your GP just request a copy and you can take them along with you to the appointment.

Many know of Alopecia Areata (AA) and it being the patches of hair loss. At Aberdeen Hair and Scalp Clinic, we are seeing more and more people who have been wrongly advised regarding this condition. Here at AH+SC, our Trichologist has worked with AA sufferers for more than eleven years. Did you know there are many different types of hair loss; Androgenetic, Telogen Effluvium, along with many types of Alopecia and each type of hair loss presents itself in a different manner. It takes a professional to be able to diagnose the type of hair loss, then the cause needs to be found before any type of treatment is used or done.

We spend a lot of money on lotions, oils, shampoos, and supplements as we read so many things that are usually advertising. We have all done it whether it’s body lotion, face cream, shampoo to name a few and we end up with bottles in our cabinets that do nothing. This is the case with hair as if you are not treating any form of loss with the right treatment it won’t fix it.

Our next wig of the series is from our Essentials Plus range: Short, textured style with point cut layers, in silver stone.

Our hair piece and wig selection is split into three categories:

1. Essentials: These pieces are our most affordable and are made from synthetic fibres. (£50-100)

2. Essentials plus: These pieces are also made from synthetic fibres, but are more durable and can be ordered in custom colours. (£99+)

3. Luxury: These pieces are made entirely from human hair and can withstand styling from heated equipment. These can also be ordered in different colours. (toppers from £500)

DISCLAIMER: Some of our hair pieces are made from synthetic materials and is pre-set to the style advertised. The use of any heated styling tools will permanently damage the hair piece.

Aberdeen Hair and Scalp Clinic offer both real human hair and synthetic pieces. Our human hair pieces can be washed, styled with heated tools, and trimmed as you would with normal hair. Our Hair pieces will always be accompanied with clear signage stating whether the piece is real or synthetic.

The most successful transplants are when the donor sites are producing the best possible hair. Often we get enough hair to return that it can delay getting a transplant for a few years. There are many things that help to get the best hair growth possible. When we get the donor sites to their optimum, it sometimes gets new hair growth in the areas affected by the Androgenetic Alopecia (AgA) as well as the donor sites.

At AH+SC we look at doing as much as we can to get the hair as good as possible, giving you all the information in order for you to have the follicles producing the best hair possible for the transplant surgeons to do their job. This in turn gives you the best transplant.

In the before and after photographs you can see a patient who was looking towards a transplant. We managed to get a lot of hair returning without a transplant, and this continued to camouflage the AgA area delaying the transplant surgery until it was really needed, and let him have the best donor sites for the surgery.
