Waxing vs Heatwave ☀️
While the weather may be beautiful, heat and sun exposure can cause issues when having waxing services, so take a few moments to read our top tips:
🟣 Keep the area being waxed out of the sun for a minimum of 24 hours prior to your appointment - 48 hours if possible. Excess heat in the skin before waxing can increase the risk of skin sensitivity, lifting or grazing. This also applies to sunbeds and fake tanning products prior to your appointment.
🟣 Sunburn in the area will prevent the treatment from going ahead, so please make sure you are wearing a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or above when out and about - ideally SPF 50 during very hot weather.
🟣 Suncream can sometimes irritate freshly waxed skin, so we would recommend waiting around 24 hours (or at least until the following morning) before applying SPF directly onto the treated area where possible. Instead, keep the area covered and out of the sun. If you’re having facial waxing, a wide-brimmed hat is ideal when outdoors.
🟣 We will also need to use oils or soothing products after your treatment, which can make the skin more sensitive to heat and sun exposure immediately afterwards.
🟣 Heat can be particularly irritating to freshly waxed skin, so avoid direct sun exposure, hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, gyms and excessive sweating for around 24 hours after your appointment.
🟣 Staying cool and hydrated before your appointment can also help reduce heat sensitivity in the skin during waxing.
But most of all? Enjoy! ☀️
