✨ This Week in Pilates – Small Ball, Big Challenge! ✨

This week in our classes, we're bringing back one of my favourite props, the Small Ball (Overball), for a fun, creative and energising full-body Mat workout!

Don't be fooled by its size! This little ball is incredibly versatile and can completely transform familiar Pilates exercises, adding resistance, instability and a whole new level of challenge to fire up our arms and glutes, and build strength throughout the whole body.

πŸ”₯ Deep core strength and abdominal control
πŸ’ͺ Arm, shoulder and upper-body strength
πŸ‘ Glute and hip strength
βš–οΈ Balance, stability and coordination
✨ Full-body muscular endurance
🌿 Mobility, alignment and purposeful movement

Expect a class full of variety, flowing combinations and a few exercises that might make those muscles work a little harder than expected! As always, options will be given throughout, so you can choose the level of challenge that works for you.

✨ This Week in Pilates – Turn Up the Intensity! ✨

This week in our online and face-to-face Pilates classes, we're turning up the intensity by adding ankle/wrist weights to our Mat workout!

Adding a little extra resistance is a brilliant way to make familiar Pilates movements more challenging. We'll be using the weights throughout the class to build strength and muscular endurance while still maintaining the length, control and precision we want from our Pilates practice.

Expect a powerful full-body workout as we target:

πŸ”₯ Core strength and control
πŸ’ͺ Arms, shoulders and upper-body strength
🦡 Legs, glutes and hips
✨ Muscular endurance
βš–οΈ Stability and balance
🌿 Controlled, purposeful movement

The aim isn't to use heavy weights. Even a small amount of additional resistance can make a BIG difference when movements are performed slowly and with control!

No ankle or wrist weights? Absolutely no problem! You can use light hand weights, tins of beans or simply do the class without weights. You'll still get a great workout.

As always, options will be given throughout, so you can choose the level of challenge that feels right for your body.

A lovely little arrival to celebrate πŸ’™

Congratulations to Hannah and her family, and welcome to the world, Ethan!

Hannah was amazing and continued Pilates throughout both of her pregnancies, so it’s especially lovely to welcome her second little one to our Pilates family.

Wishing you all lots of love as you settle into life as a family of four πŸ’™

✨ This Week in Pilates – Strength, Stability & Balance ✨

This week in our online and face-to-face Pilates classes, we're bringing out the Magic Circle for a full-body workout combining thoughtful movement with plenty of challenge.

We'll use the Circle to help us connect more deeply to our muscles, strengthen the core, improve stability and build full-body strength, while still focusing on the control and precision that make Pilates so effective.

But we won't just be squeezing the Circle! We'll be finding some new ways to use it, including exercises that challenge our balance, coordination and stabilising muscles.

The Magic Circle is brilliant because it gives us immediate feedback. It can add resistance, help us find better muscle connection and make even familiar exercises feel completely different.

The aim? To leave feeling strong, steady and confident in how your body moves. πŸ’š
As always, options will be given throughout so you can choose the level of challenge that works for you.

I’ve been teaching Pilates since 2009 and have been coaching health, strength and fitness for over 25 years. I’m also a Registered Nutritional Therapist, so supporting people to feel stronger, healthier and more confident in their bodies has been at the heart of what I do for a very long time.

✨ This Week in Pilates – Stability from Head to Toe ✨

This week in both our face-to-face and online Pilates classes, we’re bringing back the Overball and stability is the name of the game!

We’ll work the whole body from head to toe, progressively moving the ball through different positions and using it smoothly and intentionally throughout the class.

The Overball is such a simple prop, but it’s brilliant for adding feedback and just enough instability to encourage your deep core and stabilising muscles to work that little bit harder. It can turn a familiar Pilates exercise into a completely different challenge!

This week we'll focus on:

πŸ’ͺ Deep core strength and stability
✨ Full-body strength and control
🌿 Posture, alignment and body awareness
πŸ”₯ Glute, leg and upper-body strength
βš–οΈ Balance and coordination
🧠 Controlled, precise movement

Expect a flowing, purposeful class where the ball becomes part of the movement rather than simply an add-on, helping you feel stronger, steadier and more connected to your body. As always, options will be given throughout, so you can work at a level that feels right for your body.

✨ This Week in Pilates – It’s All About Balance! ✨

This week in both our face-to-face and online Pilates classes, we’re bringing out the Yoga Block and we’ll be on the block, under the block and using it in ways you might not expect!

Our main focus this week is balance. Balance isn’t just about standing on one leg, it relies on core strength, coordination, body awareness and all those smaller stabilising muscles working together to keep us steady and controlled.

The Yoga Block is such a simple prop, but it’s brilliant for changing the way familiar Pilates exercises feel. Depending on where we place it, it can provide support and feedback or introduce a little instability and an entirely new challenge.

This week we'll be working on:

βš–οΈ Balance and stability
πŸ’ͺ Deep core strength and control
✨ Coordination and body awareness
🌿 Posture and alignment
πŸ”₯ Strength through the legs, glutes and whole body
🧠 Proprioception – helping your body become better at knowing where it is in space

Expect plenty of familiar Pilates movements with a new twist and probably a few wobbles along the way! 😊 As always, options will be given throughout, so you can work at a level that feels right for your body.
