Here's what I actually think.

You know your body. You know what helps and what doesn't. Sometimes you choose the Aperol anyway and that's okay.
Menopause support isn't about rigid rules. It's about awareness, self-compassion, and making choices that feel right for you.

I have had lots of new followers recently ( thank you ). I don't do formal introductions. So here's the real one.

I'm Claire. I'm a menopause expert, acupuncturist, researcher and I've lived everything I talk about from the inside.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I went through surgery and a year of treatment. And when the treatment ended, nobody prepared me for what came next.

Medical menopause. Overnight. No gentle transition. No perimenopause runway. Just here we go.

The fatigue. The joint pain. The brain fog so thick I couldn't finish sentences. The loss of libido I was too embarrassed to mention to anyone. The anxiety that arrived uninvited and wouldn't leave.

And the health anxiety that lives alongside you when you've been through cancer that nobody talks about either.

That's why I do this work. Not from a textbook. From this body, this life, this experience.

Let's talk about something that doesn't make it onto the nice pastel infographics.

Menopause rage.

Not just 'feeling irritable'. I mean the white-hot, zero-to-furious, where-did-THAT-come-from rage that leaves you wondering who on earth you've become.

It's not you losing your mind. It's oestrogen and progesterone dysregulation affecting your brain's emotional centre your amygdala. When those hormones fluctuate, your stress response becomes hypersensitive.

You are not broken. Your brain is working with a changing hormonal landscape and it needs support, not shame.

Are you waking at 3am? 👀

It’s one of the most common things I hear in clinic and it’s not just stress or a busy mind.

During perimenopause and menopause, blood sugar becomes far less stable. In the early hours it can dip, and your body releases adrenaline and cortisol to correct it. That surge? That’s what wakes you.

The good news it’s really common and can be really fixable.

Try a small protein snack before bed tonight. Greek yoghurt, cottage cheese, even a small protein shake. Protein helps stabilise blood sugar overnight so your body doesn’t need to trigger that stress response.
Simple. Science-backed. Worth trying.
