I am so blessed to share my wonderful partnership with the gorgeous Helen, together we create and coordinate the Alton Arts Festival Schools Programme and it’s taking place right now!

As of this week, a small army of professional artists are walking into classrooms across the local area, delivering inspiring creative experiences to local young people.

Across 18 schools, from Alton Infants to Eggar’s, more than 3,500 children are taking part in workshops ranging from comic art and silversmithing to African drumming, street art, robot-building, storytelling and yoga. Every workshop is delivered by talented professional artists and workshop leaders, and offered free to schools and students.

With arts funding in schools squeezed tighter every year, many children miss out on experiences that could spark something lasting. We started this programme to help change that - bringing dance, theatre, music and visual arts into Alton’s classrooms and putting something extraordinary within reach of every child. This year we’ve expanded into secondary schools too, which feels like a real milestone.

HAWTHORN, ROSE & THE HEART

One of my favourite things about early summer is working with the plants that support the Heart — physically and emotionally.

Hawthorn has traditionally been used to support circulation, calm the nervous system, and gently strengthen the heart.

Rose brings softness, emotional nourishment, and helps cool excess heat.

Together they make the most beautiful, gentle daily tea.

Healing doesn’t always have to be dramatic… sometimes it’s simply remembering to pause, breathe, and reconnect with ourselves through small rituals.

Today’s reminder:
Drink the tea.
Take the walk.
Open the window.
Put your face in the sun.
Let your shoulders soften.

STILL SOAKING UP EARLY SUMMER’S ENERGY OF JOY & CONNECTION 🌿

After such a lovely workshop this weekend, I’ve been reflecting on the beautiful reminder that wellbeing doesn’t have to be complicated… often it’s found in the simplest daily rituals and moments of connection.

Early summer in Chinese Medicine is all about the Heart — joy, connection, circulation, softness, and emotional balance.

One of the biggest things that came through during our afternoon together was how important it is to make wellbeing feel gentle and doable… not another thing on the to-do list.

So here’s your reminder that supporting your Heart energy this season can look like:

🤍 5 minutes of movement
🤍 Drinking fresh hawthorn & rose tea slowly in the garden
🤍 Eating seasonal foods
🤍 Breathing deeply before reacting
🤍 Dancing in the kitchen
🤍 Putting one hand on your heart and one on your belly

We’re not meant to live disconnected from the seasons.

Our nervous systems respond constantly to light, temperature, rhythm and the environment around us, even when we’re not aware of it.

The PAUSE workshops are a gentle space to step out of busyness and reconnect with those natural rhythms again.

Through rest, seasonal guidance and simple practices, you’ll learn ways to support your energy, sleep and wellbeing in everyday life.

Many people say the biggest shift is something simple but powerful - permission.

Listening to the rhythms of nature helps us remember our own.

This sits at the heart of how I work.

While reflexology and massage can support specific symptoms or areas of discomfort, my approach also looks a little deeper than symptom relief alone.

Our bodies are constantly responding to the seasons, the light, the temperature, and the environment around us. Drawing on the foundations of Chinese medicine and seasonal wisdom, each time of year is connected to particular organs, energies and emotional patterns.

During treatments, I gently weave these seasonal insights into the session, supporting the systems most connected to the season we are moving through.

It’s also about creating space for awareness — a chance to pause, notice where you are in your own cycle, and reconnect with the pace and intelligence of nature, rather than feeling you need to push against it.

Over time, this can become a deeply nurturing way of supporting wellbeing — helping the body find balance not just through treatment, but through understanding and working with the seasons.

And the light really is returning… ✨

We’re gaining around 7 minutes of daylight every two days right now. Over the next month, that adds up to almost 2 extra hours of light. It’s something that quietly lifts the spirit — and it also has a very real effect on our bodies.

We are deeply governed by natural rhythms, and light is the strongest regulator of our internal clock. These small daily increases begin to gently shift our hormones, influencing our energy, mood, and sleep.

More daylight supports serotonin production (helping to lift our mood), while also delaying early melatonin release — easing that familiar afternoon slump.

✨ A gentle invitation for tomorrow:

If you can, step outside within the first hour of waking — even just 5 minutes helps. Morning natural light sends a powerful signal to your nervous system and can improve sleep later that night.

Pause and notice the light…
How it falls, how it feels, how it changes the world around you.

🌿 Back to School — It’s All About The Breath

Back to school can bring a mix of emotions for our children — excitement, nerves, overwhelm, and sometimes big feelings they don’t yet have words for.

As routines begin again, one of the most powerful tools we can give our children is something they already carry with them…their breath 🤍

Helping children build their own self-care toolbox gives them gentle ways to feel calm, safe and in control, wherever they are.

✨ Try this simple breathing technique together ✨

Ask your child to imagine they are holding their favourite flower in one hand and a candle in the other.

🌸 Slowly breathe in through the nose, smelling the flower.
🕯️ Then gently breathe out through the mouth, blowing out the candle.
🌿 Repeat together for 5 slow breaths.

Slow breathing helps signal to the nervous system that it is safe, calming the body and settling busy thoughts.

Practising these moments together before school, at bedtime, or whenever your child needs reassurance can make such a difference.

Our children already have incredible built-in superpowers… sometimes they just need reminding how to use them 🤍

It can be easy to feel the heaviness of February.
I’ve certainly felt it this week; the lingering cold, the relentless rain, the sense that winter has gone on just a little too long.

And yet… nature is already whispering signs of hope.

The days are slowly lengthening, and snowdrops are beginning to appear - delicate yet powerful reminders that lighter, brighter days are ahead.

These gentle stirrings can be easy to miss in our busy lives, but we are actually in a beautiful seasonal moment known as Imbolc - a turning point between the deep stillness of winter and the quiet beginnings of spring.

This time is not quite winter, and not quite spring.
It is a sacred pause.

A time to move slowly.
To rest a little longer.
To gently gather energy for the growth that lies ahead.

In many traditions, this is also a time to tend our inner waters, nourishing the kidneys, the home of our deepest vitality and life essence, known as Jing.

Jing is our foundational energy, supporting growth, hormonal balance, fertility, resilience, and our ability to adapt to change.

Like the snowdrop, we don’t need to rush.

Gentle, steady nourishment is enough 🌱
