Mens Health awareness week provided a great opportunity for men to explore the visible and hidden problems faced by men as we age. Many of these issues may be embarrasing and as a result get very little air time in converation between men or within male social circles. At The Prostate Health Clinic we seek to promote the conversation around health issues affecting men to encourage awareness, testing and lifestyle change in order to help men live better AND for longer.
This video aims to answer some of the questions men ask around their risk of the disease and what is involved for testing in Prostate Cancer.
Prostate cancer is common and if found early has an excellent chance of cure. For many men treatment can be delayed until necessary. Did you know that not all men need treating for prostate cancer, and some can aviod this alltogether? This can be confusing and working out whether testing is appropriate for you is a very personal choice, requiring all the facts at your disposal.
Symptoms can be unreliable and a lack of a screening programme in the UK adds to confusion. The important take home is to have the conversation. Is testing right for you, what are the pros and cons of testing? Are there tests that can improve your understanding and management of risk?
Don't bury your head in the sand, speak to your GP or your urologist or book into the Prostate Health Clinic to explore this further.
