We would like to make our patients aware that, due to unexpected staff sickness, we are currently experiencing a clinical staff shortage. This has reduced our appointment capacity considerably.

If you require an urgent, same-day appointment, please be aware that availability is very limited. If your condition can safely wait, or if you are able to seek advice and treatment from your local pharmacy or another appropriate healthcare provider like 111, we would be grateful if you could do so. Most minor illnesses can be assessed and treated by your local pharmacy without the need to see a GP, and pharmacists are highly trained to provide advice and treatment for a wide range of common conditions.

To help support our service during this challenging period, we are arranging additional clinical support through Cumbria Health. As part of this, If your condition requires a same day appointment you may be contacted for a telephone triage assessment before being offered an appointment.

We understand this may be frustrating, and we sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding, and kindness towards our team as we work through this challenging time. Thank you for your continued support.

Christmas and New Year Opening Hours

Ambleside and Hawkshead surgeries will be closed on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th of December, and Thursday 1st January. We’ll be open as normal during the working week outside of these dates

Please ensure you have enough medication to see you through the festive period and request any medications in good time. We are under increased pressure at this time of year, so it can take a little longer to authorise your requests.

With Christmas fast-approaching it is time to think about your medicines. Make sure you and your family don’t run out over the Christmas period. Check your stocks now, and order through your usual method. We will be aiming to get most planned supplies ready by 20 December leaving the last few days for urgent items.

The pharmacy will be open through the Christmas period, we are even open 9am to 11am on Christmas Day. The only days we will close are Boxing Day and New Years Day.

Deliveries will be made as usual, with some extra delivery days before Christmas to make sure everyone has what they need.

Check your household remedies too for headaches, diarrhoea, coughs and colds and minor injuries.
