💪✨ Understanding Tendons & Tendon Injuries ✨💪
Tendons are strong, flexible tissues that connect your muscles to your bones. Their job is to transfer force from the muscle to help your body move efficiently — whether that’s walking, lifting, running, or exercising 🏃♂️🏋️♀️
Because tendons work hard every day, they can sometimes become overloaded or irritated, leading to injury.
⚠️ Common tendon injuries include:
🔹 Tendinitis – irritation and inflammation of a tendon
🔹 Tendinopathy – ongoing tendon pain and reduced strength
🔹 Tears or strains caused by overload or sudden movements
🩹 Symptoms may include:
✔️ Pain during movement
✔️ Stiffness, especially in the morning
✔️ Weakness around the joint
✔️ Swelling or tenderness
✔️ Pain during exercise or everyday activities
Tendon injuries can happen gradually over time or suddenly after increased activity. They’re common in areas such as the Achilles tendon, shoulder, knee, elbow, and wrist.
