September at James' Place Adult Daycare

Another month has flown by, and our September blogs are now live!

It’s been an incredibly busy month across our four locations, with our members learning new skills, exploring their communities, getting creative and making the most of the first signs of autumn.

📍 Andover has been dancing, learning Makaton, cooking up a storm and getting creative through Sewing Club, Fashion Week and our Roald Dahl and fairy tale themes. Members also took part in the Personal Bests event in Wi******er, visited River Bourne Farm and enjoyed an exciting trip to Paultons Park.

📍 Basingstoke enjoyed adventures to Mottisfont, Paultons Park, the trampoline park and historic Odiham Castle. Back at the location there was Cook Your Own Lunch, autumn crafts, scarecrow making, dancing with Move Momentum and plenty more.

📍 Eastleigh travelled around the world through food, stepped back in time with castles and knights, celebrated Roald Dahl, held a rather competitive Fashion Week and welcomed autumn with scavenger hunts, crafts and sensory activities. Members also joined friends from our other locations for sports sessions and a brilliant day at Paultons Park.

📍 Reading West has been building confidence and independence in the kitchen with everything from homemade pasta and pizzas to carrot cake cupcakes. Members designed their own clothing, experimented with art techniques from around the world, created autumn decorations and headed out into the community for shopping trips, walks, outdoor exercise and trampoline fun.

And that’s only a little snapshot of everything our members have been up to!

Grab a cuppa and head over to our website to read the full September blogs from all four James' Place Adult Daycare locations and see more of what our members have been learning, creating and enjoying.

October is shaping up to be a busy month at James' Place Adult Daycare!

Our October activity calendar is here, and our locations have another brilliant mix of themes, activities and special days planned to keep our members creating, learning, exploring and having fun together.

We’ll be kicking things off with Transport & Recycling, before exploring Harvest Festival, animals and Oktoberfest-inspired activities. We’ve also got a week of individual themed days, including Music Monday, Tasty Tuesday, Wellbeing Wednesday, Throwback Thursday and Fun Friday. 🎵🍎

As autumn settles in, members will be exploring the season through sensory activities, textures, tastes and the changing colours of nature. Then, of course, we’ll be finishing October with Halloween Week, so expect plenty of spooky creativity! 🎃👻

Along the way we’ll also be marking Woolly Jumper Day, National Apple Day and National Pumpkin Day, with each of our locations putting their own ideas and activities around the monthly themes.

We can’t wait to show you what everyone gets up to throughout October.

Ice cream without the melting mess!

Our members at James' Place Adult Daycare Eastleigh got creative with some delicious-looking ice cream art, using a variety of different materials, textures and colours to create their own imaginative designs.

Activities like this are a great opportunity to explore different textures, make individual creative choices and practise fine motor skills, with every finished piece looking completely different from the next.

The only problem? They look good enough to eat!

Showcase time at James' Place Adult Daycare Andover!

We absolutely love having the opportunity to show off everything our members have been creating, learning and working on, and our latest showcase was no exception.

It was lovely to welcome everyone along and share some of the fantastic work our members are so proud of. Behind every creation is time, imagination, new skills and plenty of personality, which makes seeing it all displayed together even more special.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to support our members and celebrate their achievements with us. We loved seeing you all!

A day fit for kings, queens and knights!

Our members stepped back in time for some castles and knights-themed fun, combining creativity with a game of bingo.

From making medieval characters and shields to getting involved in the game, it was a great opportunity to explore the theme in different ways. Activities like these encourage creativity, concentration, communication and social interaction, with plenty of fun along the way.

Our members at James' Place Adult Daycare Eastleigh have been making the most of their seaside-themed activities, creating colourful fish, getting crafty and, in one case, putting together a beach outfit that deserves its own catwalk!

From bright colours and different textures to choosing materials and creating their own designs, activities like these give our members plenty of opportunities for creativity, self-expression and making their own choices.

We are absolutely bursting with pride! 💛

Our wonderful Brody has completed his Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award and was invited to Buckingham Palace to celebrate this incredible achievement.

The hard work, commitment and determination Brody has shown throughout every challenge have been truly inspiring, and we couldn’t be prouder of him.

A fantastic achievement and one he should be incredibly proud of. Well done, Brody! 🎉🏅

Happy National Fitness Day! 🏃‍♀️💪

Today, we’re celebrating the importance of staying active and recognising the strong connection between a healthy body and a healthy mind.

We’re incredibly lucky to have such a fantastic wellbeing programme here at JP Andover, alongside wonderful facilities right at our fingertips. Whether it’s a trip to the gym, a dance class, yoga, or a game of squash, there are so many ways to get moving and enjoy the benefits of being active.

Fitness is something that can be accessible and enjoyable for everyone, and we’re proud to champion movement, wellbeing and a healthy lifestyle across our community.

Here’s to keeping active, feeling good and looking after both our bodies and minds! 🌟

Our members at James' Place Adult Daycare Basingstoke enjoyed an ‘All About Me’ day, celebrating the personalities, interests and things that make each of us unique.

From making face puzzles and creating mood boards filled with favourite things, to decorating biscuits to look like themselves, there were plenty of opportunities for creativity, choice and self-expression. Although we think turning yourself into a biscuit might have been the highlight!

The fun continued throughout the week with yoga, dancing, sewing and lots more, giving our members different ways to get involved, learn new skills and enjoy time together.

Our wonderfully talented Louise has continued to foster creativity through the JP Sewing Club, which meets every Wednesday.

Members have produced remarkable pieces reflecting our weekly themes, enhancing their hand-eye coordination, concentration, and sewing skills. These creations also serve as heartfelt gifts for their loved ones. I think we can all agree they are fabulous

Dreams in a jar for Roald Dahl Week!

This week at James' Place Adult Daycare Andover, we’ve been stepping into the magical world of Roald Dahl, with a little inspiration from The BFG and his wonderful collection of dreams.

Our members created these beautiful dream-inspired sensory jars, choosing colours and materials to make their own unique creations. It was a calming, hands-on activity that encouraged creativity, imagination and sensory exploration while bringing a much-loved story to life.

We think the finished dream jars look fantastic. Now we just need to decide which dreams we’d like The BFG to deliver!
