Returning to the therapy room after time away, I wanted to make the shift properly not just unlock the door, and get down to business
It’s essential to cleanse, charge, and protect the space and rebuild my energetic connection with it before welcoming clients back in.

I started with salt and a broom, sweeping the room to clear out anything stagnant. Then I cleaned every surface by hand. Smudged the space with sage, palo santo, and frankincense resin. I set up my crystal grid, and finished by charging and protecting the room with Reiki and clear intention.

Why this matters as a therapist:

A therapy room holds a lot.
It holds grief, breakthroughs, old patterns being worked through, week after week. Energetic hygiene is the practice of tending to that residue, the same way you’d air out a room after a long winter. It’s not separate from the clinical work; it’s part of what makes the space safe to walk into.

For me, cleansing and charging the room isn’t ritual for its own sake it’s how I make sure the space is genuinely ready to hold whoever sits in it next.

It holds and protects me and allows me to hold space for you too.
With love
Jx🤍

Usui Reiki Training

Day One (Reiki 1) is heart-centred and personal — the history and principles of Reiki, your attunement, chakras, hand positions, and giving and receiving treatment. A lovely foundation on its own, or the first step toward practitioner level.

Day Two (Reiki 2) builds on this — your Reiki 2 attunement, gassho meditation, distance healing, the Level 2 symbols, and working with energy beyond touch. Complete the requirements after training and you can qualify as a Usui Reiki practitioner.

📅 Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th September
🕙 10am–4.30pm daily
📍 Small groups (max 4–6), held from my home in Armagh

A little one-minute Breathwork grounding and harvesting with the Light for Lughnasa. ✨

I’m still travelling, embracing the joy of being beautifully unbusy, and not thinking too much about work… but I wanted to pop in and share this little practice with you. 🌀

If you’d like to breathe together in person, Sunday Sessions Breathwork Class returns in September at a new time of 10am.

Until then, may this season remind you to pause, soften, and reconnect with your own inner light.
Because you are a Star 💫🌟💫 and a shining light 🫶

Love ( & Light 🤣 - sorry couldn’t resist )

There’s a vastness here no photo or video will ever capture …. and I’ve tried, every few steps.

The Dolomites don’t just stand above you in all their glory. As you walk and stare, there’s an optical illusion that happens, they seem to bend and shift, to hold you, to look back. Watching.

Sleeping giants. Cathedrals of stone.

I’m in awe.
Vast and silent.
Impossible not to love. 🤍

Offline this weekend (17–19 July) — Trinity and I are hosting our Step Into Silence retreat, a few days of digital detox and quiet space to just be.

Once that wraps I’m straight off on annual leave too, so replies might be slower than usual for a bit. I’ll probably pop up with the odd photo from my travels though, but you know me, when the notion hits 😉

We don’t have a date set yet for the Autumn Step Into Silence, but it’s a small group and if it sounds like your kind of thing, feel free to reach out and I’ll keep you posted.

Back properly in due course 🌙 Shhhhhh

“Sit in nature for 10 minutes a day.”

You have to love the wisdom from David Attenborough, yet this is a practice that can profoundly change how we feel, think, and feel.

The real question isn’t whether it works. The question is can we be consistent enough to nurture and create this connection.

Nature connection is one of my regular practices throughout the year. In every season, I make time to step outside, slow down, and simply be present. Each season offers something different to notice, appreciate, and learn from. Every time I practice the connection is more tangible and stronger.

In a world full of noise, silence isn’t the absence of sound. Silence is also listening.

Listening to the wind moving through the trees.
Listening to the birdsong.
Listening to your breath.
Listening to yourself.

Nature has a remarkable way of regulating our nervous system, grounding our attention, and reminding us that we are part of something much bigger.
As we finish the practice, we open our eyes and see around us with fresh eyes and listen more closely.

This is one of the reasons I’m so excited to be weaving nature connection into our upcoming retreat.
For me silence and cultivating a connection to the earth goes hand in hand.
Creating space to drop in deeply, listen deeply, and connect with nature, connect with ourselves, and remember we are nature too

💫Stepping Into Silence 💫
July 17-19
Country Antrim Countryside

A small-group retreat for deep rest, reflection, and nervous system restoration

Join us for an intimate retreat of just 6-8 people, designed to make silence accessible, supportive, and meaningful for everyone. Whether you’re a complete beginner or experienced practitioners.

In a world of constant stimulation, silence offers something rare: space.

Space to slow down.
Space to listen.
Space to reconnect with yourself.

Many people discover that when they finally stop and become still, fatigue, emotions, and tension that have been hidden beneath the busyness of daily life begin to surface. This isn’t something to fear, it’s often the nervous system’s way of beginning to unwind and restore balance.

Throughout the retreat, we’ll gently explore silence through a range of supportive practices, including:

• Yoga
• Nature connection
• Hot and cold therapy
• Gestalt enquiry
• Guided and unguided silent practice

This retreat is not about achieving anything or “doing silence correctly.” It is about creating the conditions for deep relaxation, self-awareness, and nervous system regulation in a safe, small-group environment.

Whether you’re curious about silent practice, seeking a reset from the demands of everyday life, or looking for a deeper connection with yourself and nature, this retreat offers an opportunity to step away from the noise and experience the restorative power of stillness.

Did I mention there’s sauna? 😌

Small group | 4–8 participants
Open to all levels, including complete newcomers

Step out of the noise. Step into silence

It’s not about feeling better
It’s about getting better at feeling

Do you ever find yourself falling asleep as soon as you sit down?

Many people assume that if they can keep going all day, they must have plenty of energy. But often the opposite is true. The body can become so accustomed to running on momentum, stress hormones, caffeine, busyness, and constant stimulation that it loses touch with its true level of fatigue.

When you finally stop, pause for a few minutes when there is no screen to check, no task to complete, no conversation to follow, the nervous system no longer has to stay alert. In that quiet space, what has been hidden beneath the activity can rise to the surface: exhaustion.

When you first spend time in silence you may find you sleep a lot

Falling asleep during meditation, after sitting quietly in nature, or the moment you get onto the sofa is sometimes the body’s way of saying, “Now that it’s safe to rest, I need to recover.”

This doesn’t necessarily mean there is something wrong. It may simply be a sign that your system has been carrying more than it has had time to process.

Silence can be surprisingly revealing. Before it brings clarity, insight, or a sense of peace, it often shows us how tired we are. The sleepiness isn’t a failure to be present; it can be the first stage of coming back into balance.

Sometimes the deepest need of an overstimulated nervous system is not more information, more productivity, or even more effort. Sometimes it is permission to stop.

Sometimes falling asleep can mean we feel safe but also the first step towards more regulation

At first, silence can bring sleepiness because the nervous system is recovering. But after that recovery, people often describe a state that is awake, calm, and deeply present
