Heavy hard skin might seem harmless, but when it becomes thick and compacted it creates constant pressure every time you step.

This patient came to Foot Corner with a large build-up of dense callus causing discomfort and rough, dry soles.

Do your feet feel swollen, puffy or tight in your shoes?

Many people assume swelling is “just fluid” but the type of swelling can actually tell us a lot.

Soft swelling in both feet is often very different from firm swelling, one-sided swelling, or swelling with skin changes. In medicine this is called oedema, meaning fluid trapped in the tissues, but the reason behind it can vary from circulation problems to inflammation or lymphatic drainage issues.

Ignoring it can sometimes allow the skin, comfort and mobility to worsen over time.

At Foot Corner we assess swollen feet regularly and help determine what may be contributing.

Tried pharmacy treatments for a fungal nail but nothing’s changed?

You’re not alone. Many fungal nail infections sit under the nail meaning creams and paints from the chemist simply can’t reach the problem.

Recently, a patient visited Foot Corner after months of trying over-the-counter treatments with no success. His toenail was loose, with fungal material underneath that topical products could never touch.

We removed the nail easily and pain-free, cleaned the nail bed, and gave clear aftercare advice. He’ll be reviewed soon to make sure everything is healing as it should.

Ingrown toenails don’t usually “just go away”…
They get red, sore, infected and often keep coming back.

If you’re tired of the same painful toenail flaring up again and again, this could be the long-term solution.

RETAIN
A partial nail avulsion removes only the painful edge of the nail not the whole nail and treats the root of the problem.

The procedure is quick, carried out under local anaesthetic, and most people walk out feeling immediate relief from pressure. Over the next few days, swelling and redness settle, and the toe becomes comfortable again.

Once healed, the nail looks natural, just slightly slimmer and is far less likely to grow back painfully.

Have you noticed your child avoiding shoes, limping slightly, or saying their toe feels sore? It’s something many parents see and often put down to growing pains.

One of the most common causes of toe pain in children is an ingrown toenail. This happens when the edge of the nail starts to dig into the surrounding skin. It’s often linked to growth spurts, tight school shoes or football boots, or nails trimmed a little too short.

Does it feel like you’re constantly stepping on a stone?
That sharp pain in your foot could be more than hard skin, it might be a verruca.

Verrucas can become painful when pressure pushes them deeper into the skin, especially on weight-bearing areas like the heel or ball of the foot.
