Melanoma is NOT “just” skin cancer ⚠️
It is a cancer diagnosis, and it can be deadly.
The biggest mistake people make is thinking melanoma can simply be cut out, removed, and then forgotten about, like less aggressive skin cancers.
Often melanoma silently grows before people realise the danger.
Melanoma starts on the skin, but it can spread to vital organs including the lungs, liver, brain and bones. That is why early detection is critical.
🤍The good news is Melanoma is largely preventable
Every sunburn matters ☀️
Your skin has a memory and it registers each one. A blistering sun burn more than doubles your risk 🔥
UV damage builds up over time, causing DNA damage that can later develop into skin cancer.
Sunbeds are dangerous.
There is no such thing as a “safe tan.”
What looks like a harmless beauty spot, mole or freckle may actually be melanoma developing quietly beneath the surface.
❗️Be vigilant for:
• New moles or pigmentation
• Changes in shape, colour or size
• Itching
• Bleeding or crusting
• Anything that simply doesn’t look right
Melanoma can affect ANY age group — even younger people and teenagers.
These cancers are time critical.
If something changes, don’t put if off…get it checked 💙
