A regular yoga practice can help improve strength, flexibility, balance and mobility, while also giving us time to slow down, focus on the breath and shift out of the constant ‘doing’ mode that so many of us spend our days in.

For me, that’s one of the biggest benefits.

It’s not just what happens to your body during the practice, but how you feel afterwards.

Calmer. Clearer. More grounded.

This September our theme is ‘Rooted & Resilient’ — looking at how we can build strength and resilience while also recognising when we need to rest and recover.

And after a lovely August break, I’m very happy to be back on the mat.

Classes start again tomorrow! 🧘‍♀️

🌿 Tuesday Tip – Less is More

I’ve always struggled with a natural tendency towards more is more.

More exercise. More productivity. More getting things done.

A big part of my practice at the moment is becoming aware of this tendency and regularly reminding myself that less really can be more.

This even spills over into my work life.

I used to work through my lunch break, thinking I’d get more done if I just kept going.

But actually, I’d end up feeling burnt out, and I wasn’t as efficient or effective as I could have been.

So now I make myself step away from my desk.

I get outside, go for a walk, breathe some fresh air and give my brain a proper break.

And I come back feeling clearer, calmer and usually much more productive.

Sometimes doing less isn’t lazy.

Sometimes it’s exactly what we need to be able to do more of what matters.

How can you DO less today? 🫶🏻

💜 More of what works. Less of what doesn’t.

Something I’m definitely still practising!

This week as part of the Power of Presence theme, we will be exploring how we can carry our practice off the mat and into everyday life.
🧘🏻‍♀️ Into our conversations.
🧘🏻‍♀️ Our work.
🧘🏻‍♀️ Our walks.
🧘🏻‍♀️ Our relationships.
🧘🏻‍♀️ Our moments of rest.

Because the real practice isn’t just the poses.

It’s how we choose to show up each day 🫶🏻

A few rounds of sun salutations in my lunch break today 🧘🏻‍♀️ It’s easy to skip practicing when life is busy, but it doesn’t have to be an hour long practice to be effective 💜
Sun salutations have been my go to reset for years. They get me out of my head, into my body, make me breathe more consciously and stretch out any tension I am feeling. Done in the correct way, they are a meditation 🧘🏻‍♀️ Effort in the movement, ease in the rhythm 💜 We will explore the balance between effort and ease in tonight’s session and we always do at least 6 rounds of this beautiful practice which stretches and strengthens the whole body 🫶🏻🕉️

🧘🏻‍♀️ This week’s theme is finding the balance between effort and ease 🧘🏻‍♀️

Which comes easier to you? Doing, pushing and achieving? Or resting and allowing?

Both are equally important at different times and simultaneously, but even when doing, we should never be forcing 😇

𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 your breath to deepen
𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 your jaw to soften
𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 your shoulders to relax

Like a river, life flows more freely when we stop trying to push against the current. The river doesn’t force its way around every bend — it adapts, finds its path and keeps moving.

Perhaps we can do the same 💜

Balance isn’t about doing less or more, it’s about knowing exactly what you need in this moment - and doing it 🧘🏻‍♀️

🌟𝐀𝐛𝐡𝐲𝐚𝐬𝐚 - 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 🌟
Building a steady and consistent yoga practice is the best tool I have found for cultivating presence. Yoga is the practice of learning to work with the mind, rather than being carried along by its habitual thoughts and patterns (we call them samskaras in yoga).

Through steady, consistent and dedicated practice, we begin to notice those habits with greater awareness. From that awareness comes choice — the chance to respond differently, with more kindness, clarity and ease.

In my class and posts this coming week, we’ll be exploring the balance between effort and ease through Patanjali’s teaching of Sthira Sukham Asanam—that a posture should be both steady and comfortable.

I invite you to explore this concept both on and off the mat.

On the mat, there should be no struggle, sweating or grasping, but instead we should be able to hold a pose steady and comfortably with even breathing, even if the posture is challenging.

Off the mat, balancing both action and rest, striving and surrender, reaching for more while being deeply grateful for all that you already have 🫶🏻

As we head into a new week, ask yourself:

✨𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞? 🌟

We can spend so much time chasing the “perfect” practice...

The perfect hour.
The perfect pose.
The perfect mindset.

But perfection isn’t the goal.

Some days I feel strong.
Some days I feel tired.
Some days my body moves with ease.
Other days it asks me to slow down.

The important thing isn’t how the practice looks.

It’s that you keep showing up, listening, and meeting yourself where you are 🫶🏻

Returning to the present moment.

Returning to the breath.

Returning to yourself.

What does your body need from you today? 💜
