Today marks one year since I stepped into the role of Manager for Neuro Rehab Services.

I’m deeply grateful to our clients, their families, and carers for the trust you place in us every day. And to my colleagues - thank you for the teamwork, expertise, and commitment that make this service what it is.

The biggest gift of the last 12 months has been witnessing the progress our clients make, and being part of their rehabilitation journeys. Every milestone, big or small, reminds me why this work matters 💙

We are very proud to share some recent client progress
After a hospital stay that significantly impacted her mobility, one of our clients has relied on a full hoist for all transfers for the last few months.

Today marked a turning point: she walked and transferred using a zimmer frame for the first time, bringing her closer to her pre-hospital baseline.

It’s a clear reminder of what steady, focused support and client determination can achieve.

There was so much to smile about during this home visit. Before this photo was taken, our client sat independently for over a minute. It has been over 18 months since she last sat with independent sitting balance.

She also made significant progress with her leg strength and her ability to stand using a standing aid. Thank you to her daughter for capturing and sharing this moment with us.

We are incredibly proud of our clients determination and the progress she’s making.

As we wrap up another incredible week — fueled by client progress and plenty of cake — we’re proud to share some standout moments of the week:

🔵A client transferring independently for the first time since his stroke over a year ago
🔵A client returning to driving thanks to a significant reduction in dizziness
🔵A client lifting a weight for the first time post-stroke
🔵Welcoming wonderful new clients into our service
🔵Great progress from clients recently discharged from hospital
🔵Discharging a client from rehab after achieving his goals of stopping falls, and improving strength and mobility. 🔵 Cakes being brought in on 3 separate days by clients, and a previous colleague.

We’re grateful to every client for their determination, trust, and ongoing support… and of course, for the cakes that keep our team going!
