When you have a moment do read up on the study below, where reiki is used. The study itself was conducted over 22 months which is a mammoth task.

The majority of participants were women but there are men too.

In my work, I see women, men and children for reiki.

Their needs are all different, the one thing that brings them together is calmness or quietness.

I remember during COVID-19 I volunteered with a charity that facilitated distant healing reiki for frontline doctors, nurses and staff.

Do read the study it’s very insightful 😊.

We are so thrilled to share a study from one of our wonderful Trustees - former Mayo Clinic Physican - Dr Kavita Prasad MD, published in the journal Global Advances in Integrative Medicine and Health.

Clinical Reiki has been part of our patient focused service for 10 years. When Dr Prasad joined us as a Trustee in 2015, she was (and remains) highly involved and instrumental in guiding our introduction of this gentle, effective intervention into many complex clinical settings such as haematology including bone marrow transplant and sickle cell projects, oncology, palliative care, paediatric medicine and major trauma. Many of these projects have been the first of their kind.

🔎 This 'feasibility study' looked at the effect of one session of Reiki on measures of wellbeing in 91 patients living with mental illness along with the feasibility of providing Reiki at a behavioural health clinic serving a low-income population.

📉 Results showed patient ratings of pain, fatigue, anxiety, stress, sadness and agitation were significantly lower after one Reiki session and patient ratings of happiness, energy levels, relaxation and calmness were significantly higher after that Reiki session. It also showed that Reiki is feasible within this type of setting and can be safely incorporated into an outpatient behavioural clinic environment.

The other day I came across a post along the line of accepting our flaws and gifts together by Jamie Clements

We often concentrate on our shortcomings, it holds so much in our psyche and our body.

When we are presented with our goodness, or gifts we shy away, we brush it off, either in pretense of being humble or not deserving. This non acceptance too stays in the body. So instead of balance we have double negative whammy.

The relationship I have with my clients are uniquely symbiotic. Often we are presented with both flaws and gifts whilst in session.

I call it session because it evolves to that. You may come due to an issue in the body, and to get to the bottom of what may be causing said pain there is an element of talking.

There is an element of agreement, sometimes disagreements, in a supportive space.

We are both student and teacher. I learn so much from my clients, their stories, their journey, insights, findings.

The human connection is so important, it is sadly diminishing.

Acknowledging the flaws often and missing out the gifts. I love that. I do have a gift otherwise there will be no one coming at my door. I am told often and as you do I shy away 😂.

These gifts are honed from experience, learning, listening, courage to ask questions and say it as it is. As I get older learning to ask questions in a context that’s easier to hear. No one likes to be pointed out about what needs to change (even me 🤗).

So next time you are thinking about having a massage. You may perhaps think it’s a treat, or I’m hurting I need to see someone.

Oh it is so much more. It is more than just your body being rubbed and using nice oils.

It is an opening, for self enquiry, healing, working out what needs changing to create that balance.

I say to my clients, experience the difference of having treatments when you are in a balance state and not just when you are hurting. Don’t take my word for it 💠

Have a magical Thursday and book that massage 💆🏻‍♀️

I am still over the moon with our family interactive session this morning.

Each has given me a positive outcome from the session.

These sessions can create bonding time, awareness, inquisitive enquiry for both parent and child/ren.

Just being able to lower the nervous system down for a moment and giving respite is gold!

I wanted the session to be informal, creative, fun and 🧘🏻‍♀️ chilled.

One plus of being away from the day of screens.

I hope you can join us for the next sessions. I have popped an extra sessions for Saturday afternoon, as the setting is small, up to 3 families.

Whether you and your child just need that downtime or another outlet for sensory/neurodiverse friendly sessions, why not come and have a session.

If you would like more information or a conversation please do reach out.
