Pregnancy gave me the hair of my dreams.
Thicker. Fuller. Less shedding.
I genuinely thought I’d finally become one of those naturally blessed, ridiculously thick-haired women 😂
Then postpartum arrived and apparently my hair wanted everything back at once.
What I wish somebody had explained to me properly the first time is that a lot of that lovely pregnancy fullness can simply be hair staying in its growth phase for longer.
After birth, hormones change and many of those hairs can then move into the shedding phase around a similar time.
Which is why postpartum shedding can feel SO dramatic.
It doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve suddenly damaged your hair, and you haven’t caused it by washing it, brushing it or doing something wrong.
Second time around, I knew what could be coming, so I started thinking about scalp health earlier.
My personal product choice has been Obagi Nu-Cil BioStim Scalp Serum to support the scalp and fuller-looking hair — not because I expect a product to magically prevent a normal hormonal process, but because I’d rather support my hair throughout the journey than wait until I’m distressed by it.
Pregnancy prepares us for approximately 4,739 things.
Why did nobody put the postpartum shed on the list? 🥲
Save this for pregnancy/postpartum you — or send it to the friend currently enjoying her suspiciously fabulous pregnancy hair 👀🤍
