If you’ve ever wondered what’s going through my head in the first thirty seconds of a consultation - buckle up 😅

After years of doing this, I still get nervous before consultations.

Not because I don’t know what I’m doing.

Because I do.

And I know how important it is to get it right.

People sometimes apologise for asking lots of questions.

Please don’t.

I’d be far more worried about someone who wasn’t asking any.

The day I stop taking a moment before a consultation to think things through properly is probably the day I should stop doing this.

Had this conversation again this week

Someone wanting to look their best for their wedding, but worried that somehow meant looking different.

The honest answer is usually the same.

Biology doesn’t work to anyone’s deadline.

Swelling settles on its own schedule.

Collagen builds on its own schedule.

And subtle results need time to stop looking like results at all.

That’s why wedding treatment plans often start much earlier than people expect.

Not because anyone is trying to sell you more treatments.

Because the goal isn’t to look different on your wedding day.

It’s to look like yourself.

Buckinghamshire’s wedding season fills the diary quickly, so if there’s already a date in the calendar, the timing conversation is worth having now.

Not three weeks before the photos. 💍

“Stuart, I want to look like I’ve had work done.”

Said no one ever.

Most people come in wanting to look like themselves again.

Just a little fresher.

A little less tired.

A little more like the version of themselves they recognise in the mirror.

Not “done”.

Not like they’ve had a little something-something.

Just well.

That’s why many of my consultations involve talking patients out of treatments just as often as talking them into them.

Which, now I think about it, is probably a terrible business model. 😂

Because the right treatment isn’t always the most obvious one.

And sometimes the best result is when nobody can quite put their finger on what’s changed.

“Surely somebody checks these places?” 🤷🏻‍♂️

Most people assume they do.

That’s what surprised me when I started looking into accreditation.

The reality is that aesthetic clinics aren’t automatically inspected in the way many people imagine.

That doesn’t mean a clinic is unsafe.

But it does mean patients often have less information than they think they do.

That’s why I chose to go through independent accreditation.

Not because I needed another logo on the website.

Because I wanted somebody external looking at the clinic, the policies, the procedures and the standards that sit behind every treatment.

Most of the important things happen behind the scenes.

The emergency procedures.

The infection control.

The insurance.

The patient safety processes.

The boring stuff nobody posts on Instagram.

Before you book anywhere, it’s worth checking what’s behind the logo.

The aesthetics industry has a bit of a glossing-over problem sometimes 👀

And look, the results are real. The happy patients are real. The glowing skin is real.

But so is the fact that these are medical procedures. And that bit tends to get conveniently left out.

I’d rather just tell you everything up front. The good stuff AND the less glamorous stuff.

Turns out people quite like that. 😊
