A recurrent ingrown toenail caused this patient alot of pain and discomfort and regular trips to see me. After careful consideration they opted for nail surgery and had both sides surgically removed under anaesthetic with phenolisation to help prevent/limit regrowth. Patient left very happy and confirmed, "it wasn't anything as bad as I expected!".

3 year anniversary !!!!🎊🍾👏 Hard to believe it has been 3 years since JMcC Podiatry moved to Galgorm. A big thank you to all the staff at Simpson's Pharmacy for putting up with me and to all my patients, both longstanding and new. Your support has been, and is, very, very much appreciated.

The toes are definitely out in full swing this week. Great to see this amazing weather. Are your feet summer ready?

Are your heels free from calluses? Nails appropriately cut? Free from fungal infection?

In this weather ensure you are applying sunscreen to your feet, the skin is susceptible to sunburn. Ensure feet are hydrated, they need creamed as much, if not more, than any other body area. Emollients with 10% urea are advisable.

Be careful walking on hot sand, hot tarmac or pavements. Ensure you are wearing proper footwear.

Minimal use of flip-flops, they can cause clawing or retracted toes and irritate the plantarfascia. Ensure you are wearing a supportive sandal with a supportive arch and heel support.

In the meantime, sit back and enjoy the glorious sunshine.

Back to normality and reality tomorrow. Teaching finishing up soon so will have more availability from mid May onwards. Please don't leave it too late to make your summer apts as not always easy slotting everyone in at the time that suits them.
Please also remember to provide at least 24hrs notice if the apt no longer suits, being self employed this is imperative as often there are other patients who could be slotted in.
