Cervical screening can determine whether you have human papillomavirus (HPV) and changes in your cells that could go on to develop into cancer if left untreated. If you are aged between 25 and 64 it's important to book and attend for screening when invited.

If at any time you feel something isn't right, don’t wait, contact your GP.

Visit www.pha.site/cervicalscreening for more info.

April is bowel cancer awareness month

Dr Dillon recently met with the BBC to discuss his call for a reduction in the age for bowel screening to be reduced from 60 to 50, in line with the rest of the UK.

We understand there is a lot of concern around the current number of meningitis cases that have been confirmed in England.

The PHA have issued a statement to help with any concerns that parents and young people may have.

To view the full statement, click on the link below:

https://www.publichealth.hscni.net/news/pha-statement-meningitis

The PHA is aware of the meningitis outbreak recently reported in South East England. The UKHSA is leading the response to the outbreak and there is no increased risk to the population in Northern Ireland. However, it is important for everyone to be aware of the signs and symptoms of meningitis and the steps to take if they are concerned. For info see www.pha.site/MeningitisKent
