Overanalysing is such a sneaky little habit. It convinces us that if we just think about something long enough, hard enough, from every possible angle… we can control the outcome.
But really, the brain is often just trying to avoid feeling uncertainty, discomfort, rejection, awkwardness, disappointment, all the messy human emotions that come with living. It pretends the solution is “more thinking,” when sometimes the real answer is feeling the moment and trusting yourself through it.
You do not need to control everything to be okay. You just need to trust that you can handle what comes.
A few ways to practice:
• Say something a bit silly with friends and survive the cringe.
• Draw something and deliberately add a flaw.
• Leave a text unanswered for a little while.
• Make a small decision quickly without researching it to death.
• Tell yourself: I am so good at tolerating uncertainty and discomfort.
The goal is not to become fearless. It’s to become someone who knows they can cope, even when life doesn’t go to plan.
