The good news is, there is plenty you can do to resolve each of these. 💪

The even better news is that each of these is totally and utterly interconnected. 🔗

So when you work on reorganising your pelvis and bringing it into a neutral position, your ribs will likely be able to drop without much effort. ✔️

When your ribs have dropped, it’s likely that your breathing will be more 3 dimensional. ✔️

When you breathe more 3-dimensionally, your upper back will untangle. ✔️

When your upper back untangles, your breath will be able to move the ribs more. ✔️

When the ribs move more, they will be able to drop a bit easier. ✔️

It’s all connected 🔗
It’s all linked 🔗
Nothing works in isolation.

So if anyone tells you to just ‘work on your core’ to resolve your diastasis 🙈, you might want to show them this post.

Restore Your Core®️ is the method I used to heal my own ‘irreparable’ diastasis and rebuild confidence and strength in my body.

Despite teaching yoga and Pilates, and working with bodies every day, having 3 children in 4 years left me feeling like an alien in my own body. It felt broken, exhausted and a lost cause.

RYC®️ changed that.

This whole-body movement programme focuses on building sustainable strength, improving mobility and restoring function.

Because sometimes the best thing to do is absolutely nothing.

I’m taking a break from the to do list, safe in the knowledge it won’t go anywhere.

I’m filling up the tank so I can feel refreshed and ready to enjoy time with my kids when they get home, instead of distracted and resentful because I’ve had to down tools mid task.

I’m enjoying pup cuddles because he is the absolute best nervous system regulator ever, and I’m craving that today.

And I know that this little pause will be enough to untangle my tight shoulders and refresh me so I can enjoy an evening of teaching with renewed energy and enthusiasm.

If there is one thing I hope every one of my clients learns from me, it’s that you can’t pour from an empty cup. Taking time to pause, rest and recharge is more important for healing than any exercise could ever be.

Don’t get me wrong, zoom is incredible, but absolutely nothing beats being in a room full of people, teaching a method that I love.

After having 3 children in less than 4 years, I was told my diastasis-recti was so severe I would need surgery to repair my abdominal wall. Terrified at the prospect of surgery, I set out on a quest to heal my diastasis and to change the paradigm around post-natal recovery. Within 3 months of starting RYC I felt stronger than I had ever felt. Over the following months, my ‘irreparable’ diastasis healed and I began to understand bodies in a completely different way, and to teach movement in a new way.

In my 10 years as RYC teacher, I have supported hundreds of clients worldwide to improve their core and pelvic floor wellness, as well as educating hundreds of RYC teachers across the globe.

I thought I’d share a little info about me, for anyone who might be a new follower, or curious about my work….

I have been teaching movement since 2007 when I completed my yoga teacher training in Kerala, India.

Since 2016 I have been supporting clients who have core, pelvic floor or back issues.

These include symptoms such as:
👉🏼 prolapse
👉🏼 incontinence
👉🏼 back pain
👉🏼 diastasis-recti
👉🏼 core weakness
👉🏼 post-natal injuries

I do this using a range of methods including:

Reformer Pilates

I came to this work after struggling with my own diastasis-recti.

My clients range from new mums to athletes, grandparents to pro sports people.

An appointment with me includes a full posture, movement and breathing assessment. This will help me to see how or why your core or pelvic floor respond, and how they might be compromised.

We will then work through some exercises or practices to help bring more balance to your movement and breath, so your body can start to work more optimally.

After the session I’ll provide you with homework videos and I’ll be available on WhatsApp or email in case you have any questions.

I see clients worldwide via zoom, or from my studio near Wetherby, Yorkshire.

Join me for this practical, movement focused day that will help you identify, accommodate and support clients who have core or pelvic floor dysfunction.

With 1 in 3 women suffering from pelvic floor issues, knowing how to provide a safe space for them to be seen, move confidently and feel well is essential for every movement teacher.

Aimed at movement teachers including
-yoga teachers,
-Pilates teachers,
-fitness instructors,
-personal trainers,
and anyone else who teaches movement, this course is packed full of practical knowledge, useful assessments and a range of movement-based practices.

During the day we will:

-explore what a client’s posture, breath and movement can reveal about their pelvic health, and how you can help them to improve;

– discuss common cues such as ‘engage your abs’ or ‘squeeze your pelvic floor’ to understand why these may be doing your students more harm than good, and what alternatives to offer instead.

– look at the anatomy of the core, pelvis and spine from a bio-tensegrity perspective, understanding how every connection - from feet to head - affects core and pelvic function, so you can provide a whole body movement experience that supports core wellness;

– identify common but unhelpful breathing habits, like belly breathing, and understand how to improve them for better, long-term pelvic health;

– have a range of tools for teaching your students deep core engagement, not just abdominal engagement;

After the course you will feel confident accommodating all clients, including those who are pre or post-natal, and be able to identify their core compensations and know how to guide them towards recovery. You will also be clear on how or when to modify movements, so your clients can feel included and supported during your classes.

This workshop also promises to help YOU to find your own movement blindspots, so you can ensure your core and pelvis are supported as you move, and as you teach others how to move.

The event takes place at the fully equipped in Sicklinghall, near Wetherby. £50 deposit secures your booking.
