If retinol has been sitting on your to-do list for a while, this is worth knowing before you start.
It’s one of the most well-evidenced ingredients in skincare, and one of the most common reasons people give up on it is because they introduce it the wrong way and end up with irritated, reactive skin that puts them off entirely. Getting the basics right from the beginning makes all the difference.
The rules are straightforward:
- Retinol at night only, starting two to three times a week and building up gradually.
- A pea-sized amount on dry skin, not more.
-And SPF every single morning without exception, because retinol and sun protection are non-negotiable partners.
Follow those principles consistently, and retinol will become one of the most valuable things in your routine.
