Returning to yourself
When life feels heavy - through grief, bereavement, stress or trauma - it can be difficult to know where to begin. Even the simplest things may feel overwhelming, and “normal” can seem very far away.
This is when gentle self-care becomes essential. Not as another expectation to fulfil, but as a compassionate way of supporting yourself through the moments that feel uncertain and tender.
Begin with little steps each day.
Presence
Take a slow, mindful breath.
Practise stillness.
Notice the beauty around you.
As you gently return to the present moment, you may begin to reconnect with yourself.
Connection
Reach out when you feel able.
Hug someone you trust.
Speak your truth.
Listen to what your heart needs.
Clarity
Write down your thoughts.
Spend time in nature.
Move with intention, in whatever way feels right for your body.
Vitality
Dance freely.
Laugh when laughter finds you.
Honour your body and its need for rest, nourishment and care.
There is no particular order, no deadline and no pressure to achieve it all quickly. Healing is not a straight line, and some days may hold more capacity than others. Take your time. Returning to yourself happens gently, one small moment at a time.
Reiki and mindfulness can be supportive tools as you find your way back towards inner peace, helping you create space to breathe, release tension and listen more deeply within.
You do not have to navigate tricky times alone. Be patient with yourself. You are allowed to take the time you need.
