What if the parts of yourself you've been trying to fix... were never broken?I don't believe people are broken.I believe...

What if the parts of yourself you've been trying to fix... were never broken?

I don't believe people are broken.

I believe they're incredibly loyal.

Loyal to the survival strategies they created long ago.

The child who learned that love had to be earned...

often becomes the adult who gives everything away.

The child who never felt truly seen...

becomes the adult who struggles to use their voice.

The child who didn't feel safe...

grows into the adult who tries to control everything.

These aren't flaws.

They're not weaknesses.

And they're not who you are.

They're the ways your nervous system learned to protect your heart.

The tragedy is that we often mistake our survival strategies for our identity.

We spend years trying to fix ourselves...

when perhaps what we really need is to understand our story.

That is why I created The Return™.

Not to help people become someone new...

but to help them return to the person they were before survival became their identity.

Because healing isn't becoming someone else.

It's remembering who you've been all along.

✨ When you look at your own life... what survival strategy has been protecting you?

Same upbringing - different people!

What if there is nothing 'wrong' with you?

My sister and I grew up in the same house.

The same parents.

The same arguments.

The same emotional absence.

The same family history shaped by war, scarcity and generations who knew how to survive... but not always how to express love.

We were both bullied.

We both longed to feel accepted.

Yet our lives unfolded very differently.

My sister became confident, independent and built healthy relationships.

I searched for love in everyone else because I couldn't find it within myself.

I became addicted—not only to substances, but to the feeling of being chosen.

For years, I believed there was something fundamentally wrong with me.

Until I realised something that changed everything.

The same childhood doesn't create the same story.

It creates different survival strategies.

Some people learn to protect themselves by becoming fiercely independent.

Others become people pleasers.

Some avoid intimacy.

Others spend a lifetime chasing it.

Different patterns.

The same wound.

For me, healing didn't begin when I understood my story.

It began when I healed the wound beneath it.

Through shamanic healing, I was able to reconnect with parts of myself that had been carrying fear, rejection and a belief that love had to be earned.

That changed everything.

Not because it changed my past.

But because it changed the way I experienced my present.

Now I often wonder...

How many of the things we call our personality are actually survival strategies we've mistaken for our identity?

And if they were learned...

Perhaps they can also be released.

Perhaps beneath every pattern is a version of ourselves that has been waiting to come home all along.

TRUE OR FALSE?

The challenges you're experiencing with your children are often a reflection of the challenges you experienced with your own parents.

That question has stayed with me all week.

So has another one:

We spend years trying to fix ourselves, when often we're carrying wounds that were never ours to begin with.

The response to that post was overwhelming.

Which tells me something.

Deep down, many of us already know that the anxiety, the self-doubt, the people-pleasing, the fear of rejection and the feeling of never being enough didn't simply appear one day.

They were learned.

Adapted.

Inherited.

Until someone decides the story ends with them.

Most people believe healing is about feeling better.

I don't.

I believe healing is about **freedom**.

Because unhealed wounds don't stay in the past.

They shape the way we love.

The way we parent.

The relationships we choose.

The opportunities we believe we're worthy of.

The life we allow ourselves to live.

The greatest cost of an unhealed wound isn't yesterday's pain.

It's tomorrow's limitations.

Healing isn't only about changing your life.

Sometimes it's about changing the legacy you leave behind.

One of the greatest shifts in my healing journey happened when I stopped seeing my mother as "my mother" and started seeing her as a human being.

A woman with fears.
A woman with wounds.
A woman carrying burdens I knew nothing about as a child.

Suddenly, so much of my own life began to make sense.

Because many of the struggles we carry today didn't begin with us.

The fear of rejection.
The need to prove ourselves.
The feeling of not being enough.
The habit of putting everyone else first.

These patterns often travel quietly through generations.

What we don't heal, we inherit.

And what we inherit, we often mistake for who we are.

Perhaps healing isn't about becoming someone new.

Perhaps it's about remembering who you were before those inherited stories became your truth.

I've been reflecting deeply on this since spending time with my mum over the last two weeks.

It has reminded me that compassion changes everything.

Not only for our parents.

But for ourselves.
