Our volunteers provide first aid cover for events, community first aid & youth services

Today Network Event Services lead Will is at South Essex Colleges Group in Grays for a Careers Day!

Yesterday Network Events Lead Will, Joined by a HCP Ambulance Crew Billy & Jason, EAC Neils along with CFA Howard all joined together to cover University of Essex’s Derby Day against University of East Anglia (UEA). A fun day had by all.

This Saturday on the 11th April 2025 we will be in Eastgate Shopping Centre Opposite Starbucks for our annual Blood pressure check Day which is ran supporting The Rotary Club of Basildon Concord as their Stroke Awareness Day! We will be in the centre from 10:00 till 14:30!

This is of course voluntary, but we believe that by providing this service we can potentially save lives every year that we run this and Every year we find people who don't know their blood pressure or haven't checked it in years.

Young adults and teenagers often don't remember ever having it checked because this test leads some people recommended to visit their local GP for a full blood pressure test

Many people don’t know that in our ambulances we have a minaturise button so that our crews can access all areas that they need and when we park on scene we can put the vehicle in our pocket to stop causing trouble for others!

With Today being International Women's Day, we want to shout out all those who have played a pivotal part at St John Ambulance South West Essex.

From Network Leadership to Healthcare Professionals, Youth Leaders and Cadets, For the incredible work, passion, strength, leadership, kindness, dedication, and spirit you provide every single day, thank you.

Back on Tuesday, Network Leader Karen, Network Event & Operations lead Will and Network Community lead Barbara attended The Billericay School Careers evening!

We had some great interactions both with Students, parents and carers and staff sharing some first aid knowledge along with what we do in the community and showing what me carry

Today we Finished our Lakeside 2025/2026 Festive Cover!

A massive thank you to everyone who came out from across the county Especially the volunteers from our network from Network leadership to Health Care Professionals down to cadets and HCP’s

And a Special Thank you to the volunteers behind the scenes in Logistics & Event planning team who have been involved in the event each week to ensure the success that it is each year

As 2025 Draws to a close, we’d like to take a look at what we have achieved as a Network over 2025.

In 2025 we have officially launched as a network, Supported Neigbouring Networks such as Mid and South East Essex, over 1998 Event hours across the year from events such as Horndon Feast N Fayre to Lakeside Festive cover

In 2025 we also educated 350 Members of the public in how to save a life! Through the use of CPR & AED Training and fundraised for things to support our community and delivered talks to the local WI along with Assisting in Save a Life September

We look forward to where 2026 takes us!

Another Busy weekend for us in south west Essex!

Yesterday Network Event & Operations lead Will joined by First Aider Katie and other emergency responders and an Ambulance Crew was at Lakeside providing support for festive cover!

Today Network Leader Karen, joined by Network Event & Operations lead Will, Sheena and our amazing Cadets was out at Basildon Mind’s Mental Elf Run! Congratulations to all along with First Aider Marion who joined a Paramedic led ambulance crew and other volunteers at Lakeside shopping centre
