We highly value the generous support that we receive each and every year from the Friends of the Hampshire Medical Fund. Their regular donations have brilliantly helped us purchase over 165 pieces of equipment for our local hospitals, totalling over £5 million! Whether the motivation to support us comes from a personal medical experience or that of a friend, or simply a recognition to support our local hospitals when NHS budgets are so constrained, these regular donations enable the Hampshire Medical Fund to purchase the latest innovative and cutting edge pieces of medical equipment. In turn, our local hospitals are able to offer the best care and we are incredibly proud of the contribution we have been able to make over the years and the impact this has had.

If you are interested in becoming a Friend of the Hampshire Medical Fund, sign up before 30th June 2026 and you’ll be entered into our exclusive prize draw to win a DEXA Body Composition Health Scan with a Mini Health Screen at The Candover Clinic, Basingstoke. This is a unique opportunity to gain an invaluable insight into your own health, with a comprehensive body composition scan and mini overall health screen, whilst simultaneously helping others by supporting the work that we do. Follow the link in our bio for more details.

Your first payment will act as your entry to the prize draw so you will not be able to claim Gift Aid on this first payment. Subsequent payments will be eligible for Gift Aid. T&Cs apply.

May is Stroke Awareness Month — and we’re taking action. 💙

Stroke is the leading cause of adult disability in the UK. At Wi******er Hospital, stroke admissions have risen by 56% since before Covid, and around 80% of patients experience reduced arm function after a stroke. Yet only a small percentage make a full recovery.

Recovery after a stroke is often limited, NOT by what is possible, but by how much therapy a patient receives. THAT’S WHY WE’RE RAISING FUNDS for the M2 Robotic Rehabilitation System — a game-changing piece of technology that uses robotics and gamified therapy to deliver high-intensity, repetitive treatment. It has the potential to transform recovery for hundreds of patients every year, helping them return to independent living, family life and work. Could you help us fund this equipment?

But first — do you know the signs of a stroke? Remember FAST:

🔴 F – FACE: Has their face dropped on one side? Can they smile evenly?
💪 A – ARMS: Can they raise both arms? Is one weak or drifting down?
🗣️ S – SPEECH: Is their speech slurred, confused or hard to understand?
⏱️ T – TIME: Call 999 immediately if you spot any of these signs.

Every second counts. Every donation counts. Help us bring life-changing technology to stroke patients who need it most. 💙

13/05/2026

Providing state-of-the-art equipment to our local hospitals is at the heart of all we do at the Hampshire Medical Fund. As NHS funding pressures grow, our fundraising has never mattered more. Limited budgets can restrict access to the latest life-saving technology and we exist to help bridge that gap to ensure that Hampshire remains at the forefront of clinical excellence.

One of the key pieces of equipment that has been requested in 2026 is the M2 Robotic Stroke Rehabilitation System for Wi******er hospital. Stroke is the leading cause of adult disability in the UK. At Wi******er Hospital, stroke admissions have risen by 56% since before the pandemic, and around 80% of patients experience reduced arm function. Yet only 5–20% will make a full recovery. NICE guidelines recommend high-intensity daily rehabilitation to maximise recovery, but rising patient numbers and staffing pressures make this increasingly hard to deliver.

The Fourier M2 Robotics System combines robotics and gamification to deliver intensive, repetitive arm therapy helping stroke patients regain independence faster and will transform long-term recovery outcomes. It will enable the stroke team to deliver more therapy minutes per patient without proportional increases in staffing. With 955 stroke admissions last year, this system has the potential to transform the recovery and outcomes for hundreds of patients annually.

The cost is £60,000 and following the success of recent events, we have just £15,000 left to fund. To find out more or support this appeal, visit the equipment page on our website. Link in bio.
