We recently received a fantastic donation of £1,000 from following their ‘Teenage Hoolie’ Scottish reels event in May this year. We are always grateful of such generous support from within the community and are delighted the evening was such an amazing success.

If you are interested in fundraising on behalf of Hampshire Medical Fund, we would love to hear from you. All contact details are available in the link in our bio - whether it’s a sponsored walk, run, skydive or even a simple coffee morning, fundraising with a focus can make all the difference.

On our 2026 wishlist is the Plusoptix paediatric autorefractor - a portable device that measures a child’s glasses prescription in under a second, without dilating eye drops.

For children with autism, developmental delay or sensory sensitivities, (who are 28 times more likely to have serious sight problems than other children), dilating drops can be distressing. This device lets clinicians get a reliable vision assessment quickly and comfortably instead.

It’s also particularly beneficial for children with Down syndrome, who are far more likely to experience eye conditions, and for whom dilation can carry extra risks.

A small piece of equipment - but one that could make a real difference for so many children in our area. 💙💛

We have recently successfully funded a Triton 2 OCT Eye Scanner for Basingstoke hospital which will be arriving soon. This is an advanced, non-invasive eye scanner that acts like a “3D radar” for the back of the eye. It allows specialists to look beneath the surface of the retina and optic nerve, where the earliest signs of serious eye disease often develop long before a patient notices any loss of vision.

This fast, painless scan provides immediate information that cannot be seen during a standard eye examination. The machine is vital for detecting and monitoring major causes of blindness, including glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy. By identifying subtle changes earlier, clinicians can intervene sooner and protect patients’ sight.

Over 4,500 patients annually will benefit from this investment. We are delighted to have been able to fund this cutting edge piece of equipment which will vitally help protect so many people’s sight.

Join us for a morning dedicated to feeling your best through perimenopause and beyond, with Dr Mandy Leonhardt, founder of the Hormone Equilibrium Clinic and a specialist in women’s health, nutrition and healthy ageing.

As well as being qualified as a GP, Mandy is a Certified Menopause Specialist, an Advanced Practitioner with the International Society of Gynaecological Endocrinology, a certified Nutritionist, as well as
having additional training in nutrigenomics and lifestyle medicine. She will talk us through the changes that happen and – more importantly – what can be done about them. Expect practical, holistic advice covering HRT, nutrition, skincare and lifestyle approaches, so you can leave with a clearer sense of your own options. There’ll be a Q&A afterwards, so bring your questions.

Grab a friend and make a morning of it. We’ll start with coffee and time for a catch-up, before the one hour talk with Q&A. After the talk you will be treated to a delicious buffet lunch in Malverleys’ restaurant Malverleys Farm & Dining , with dishes inspired by the changing seasons and ingredients from their market garden. Tickets cost £65 pp.

You’ll leave feeling informed, empowered and ready to feel your best.

Why delay, book your tickets now via the link in our bio so as not to miss out.

We are delighted to have recently funded an important piece of equipment for the Neonatal Unit in Basingstoke Hospital – the Atom Shuttle System. The Shuttle System clips onto an Atom incubator, enabling premature, ventilated and critically unwell babies to be safely transferred around the hospital in their existing incubator instead of having to be moved into another piece of equipment for the transfer. (The Hampshire Medical Fund purchased the Atom Incubators for the hospital a couple of years ago).

The Shuttle System will be used to transfer babies requiring urgent respiratory support from the delivery suite to the Neonatal Unit once they are stable. Currently, this transfer is carried out using a resuscitaire. The new equipment will provide a significantly safer, more comfortable and controlled environment, for these transfers.

Beyond emergency transfers, the Shuttle System can also be used to transport babies needing respiratory support to see their mothers on the maternity ward whilst remaining in their incubator, when mothers are unable to visit the Neonatal Unit. This supports early bonding, an essential part of both infant development and maternal wellbeing. It will also be used to transport babies for diagnostics within the hospital.

This piece of equipment will make a real difference to staff and families in the Neonatal Unit in Basingstoke hospital and we are delighted to have been able to play our part in bringing it to our local hospital.

FUTURE PATHWAYS AUCTION UPDATE - A CONVERSATION WITH MEDICS

Earlier this week and following our Future Pathways Auction in April, we were delighted to host a fantastic workshop for a number of budding medics at Basingstoke Hospital. Led by Chief Medical Officer of HHFT and HMF Trustee Ruth Williamson, all those who attended were given a brilliant ‘INSIGHT INTO A CAREER IN MEDICINE’ with talks and ‘Q & A’ sessions with trainee doctors, GP’s, registrars and consultants, all of whom were incredibly generous in sharing (with the students) their medical experiences to date. Pulkit Sethi spoke about the da Vinci robot, funded last year by the Hampshire Medical Fund and the incredible impact of robotics in medicine and how this shapes the future. This relaxed and open format proved hugely engaging with some brilliant conversations between the students and medical teams.

We were delighted to welcome students from a number of schools locally, most of whom joined us on a pro bono basis. The Future Pathways Auction has delivered some incredible pro bono work experience placements for a significant number of students across a wide spectrum of industries and we are hugely proud to see so many make the most of this opportunity.

A huge thank you to all of the medical professionals who took the time to inspire the younger generation to a rewarding career in medicine - we look forward to hearing what the future holds for you all.
