We have 2 weeks with no class!

To keep up your yoga whilst I’m away here’s a few tips on setting up your at home practice:

- Little and often. You don’t have to do a full hour, sometimes that just seems too daunting to even start. Begin with 10-15 mins and build up.
- Start with your favourites. What makes you feel good? What is your body or mind asking for today?
- If you’re rushing through download a free insight timer and set the gong speed, move when you hear the sound. It slows you down and helps you focus.
- Make time and don’t force the physical. If you need to just sit and breath, do that.

Tomorrow we are bringing some balance! Did you know that balance asanas engage with over 100 muscles? These muscles work together to keep you stable - so come and work them together with me:

🧠 Balance starts in your brain, not just your muscles. Standing on one leg challenges your nervous system to coordinate your eyes, inner ear and muscles simultaneously.
💪🏻Tiny muscles do big work. Balance poses activate many small stabilising muscles around your ankles, hips, spine, and shoulders that are often underused in everyday life.
🫨Wobbling is a good sign. Small movements while balancing mean your body is constantly making micro-adjustments to keep you upright. This is how your balance improves over time.
🦶 Your feet contain thousands of nerve endings. Standing barefoot during yoga helps your body's awareness of where it is in space.

You don’t need dumbbells - you just need your body!
Yoga requires you to support, balance, and control your body, which strengthens muscles over time - here’s how:

💪 Your body is the weight! In poses like Plank and Chaturanga, you're essentially doing a moving bodyweight workout.
🌳 Tree Pose strengthens more than your legs. Balancing activates your core, ankles, and hips to keep you steady.
🐍 Cobra Pose builds back strength. It works the muscles along your spine, helping improve posture.
🐕 Downward Dog is a full-body challenge. It strengthens your shoulders, arms, legs, and core all at once.
⚖️ Tiny muscles get stronger too. Yoga engages stabiliser muscles that many traditional workouts don't target.
🧠 Strength starts in the brain. Holding poses improves the connection between your brain and muscles, helping you use them more effectively.
⏳ Long holds build endurance. Staying in a pose for 30–60 seconds trains muscles to resist fatigue.
❤️ Strong doesn't always mean bulky. Yoga typically develops lean, functional strength along with flexibility and balance.
