September is World Alzheimer’s Month!

We’re starting the month by asking... what is Alzheimer’s disease?

Alzheimer’s is the most common cause of dementia, but it’s often misunderstood. It’s a disease of the brain that affects nerve cells and the connections between them, and it can affect much more than memory.

Andy Burnham's personal story about his father's Alzheimer's has brought dementia back into the national conversation.

His story is a reminder that behind every dementia diagnosis is a person, a family and a future that can be profoundly changed by the impact of the condition.

At ReMind UK, we believe stories like this also highlight why dementia research matters. Every breakthrough in diagnosis and treatment starts with research, and every study starts with people.

Read our latest article to find out why research gives us real reason for hope - https://www.reminduk.org/2026/07/23/andy-burnhams-personal-story-highlights-the-importance-of-dementia-research/
