Today is International Day of Charity!

RUHX, the official charity of the RUH Bath go further to give every patient the extraordinary care they deserve, while also supporting our hospital staff to do what they do best!

Last month, RUHX funded one of three new Atom Infa Warmer machines for Bath's Neonatal Unit.

The equipment is now in place and will provide vital support for babies who need immediate resuscitation and temperature regulation after birth. Throughout September, the neonatal team will receive specialist training to ensure the equipment is used safely and effectively.

Heidi, Consultant Neonatal Nurse, said:

"We are incredibly grateful for this generous funding, which has enabled us to purchase a new ATOM Infa Warmer Resuscitaire. Having up-to-date technology will make a real difference to our team, supporting us to provide high-quality care when babies need help at birth. Most importantly, this investment will help us continue to provide the safest possible care for babies and reassurance for their families."

This is a wonderful example of how charitable support helps provide extraordinary healthcare for local families and gives newborn babies the best possible start in life.

Your support has helped bring another small change with a big impact for patients at the RUH Bath

Thanks to RUHX funding, 30 sets of headphones have been provided to improve the patient experience. They allow patients to enjoy audiobooks, helping to reduce feelings of boredom and isolation while supporting emotional wellbeing during their stay. Importantly, they can listen comfortably without disturbing other patients or staff nearby.

A huge thank you to Breast Unit fundraisers Julia (left) and Angela (right) pictured at their annual ‘Coffee and Cake’ day in the beautiful gardens of Stocks Cottage in Kington Langley.

This month's brilliant event raised over £7,000 for the unit. And since starting in 2022, inspired by their own diagnoses, they have now raised over £16,000!

“It was such a brilliant day, the atmosphere was so warm and wonderful,” shared Julia.

Thank you, Julia and Angela. You are both truly incredible!

Good luck to Wayne, who is beginning his incredible 270-mile walk tomorrow from Anglesey to the first Rodney Cook Memorial Charity Detecting Events of the summer, all the way in Newbury🚶‍♂️

Walking in honour of his Nan and all those affected by cancer, Wayne is taking on this extraordinary challenge to raise funds for patients at RUH Bath and other cancer charities.

We'll be cheering him on every step of the way! 👏
