This Maternal Mental Health Week, we want to talk about something that doesn’t get enough attention — postnatal depression.
According to the NHS, postnatal depression affects around 1 in 10 new mothers. It can feel like a fog that won’t lift, an invisible wall between you and the joy you were “supposed” to feel.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the postpartum period is considered one of the most significant transitions a woman will ever go through, emotionally and physically.
The energy and blood lost through pregnancy & birth takes time, nourishment and support to restore and when that restoration is disrupted, it can show up as anxiety, low mood, exhaustion, and emotional overwhelm.
Acupuncture can work alongside medical support and for many mothers, it becomes a vital part of a wider toolkit for recovery and care. We can help you feel like yourself again and move smoothly into this new phase of motherhood.
