Today is World Alzheimer’s Day. Sometimes, it’s the little things that make the biggest difference. For someone living with Alzheimer’s or dementia, time, kindness and companionship can mean so much.

Communication is about more than just words. For someone living with Alzheimer’s or dementia, finding the right words can sometimes be difficult. Small changes in how we communicate can make a big difference.
✨ Speak slowly and use short sentences
✨ Give them time to respond
✨ Maintain eye contact and use their name
✨ Stay calm and patient
✨ Avoid correcting or arguing
✨ Use gestures and visual cues when helpful
✨ Focus on feelings, not just facts
Most importantly, every conversation is an opportunity to help someone feel heard, respected and understood. 💜

This week, we'd like to give a huge thank you and congratulations to Matthew, who has truly gone the extra mile during his time with us.

As Matthew prepares to head off to Birmingham University this month to complete his Paramedic Degree, we want to recognise the hard work he has shown to both our customers and the team.

He will be greatly missed by everyone at the branch.

Matthew said:

"Caring is a great way to gain experience for any care role. I have learnt so much, which in turn will help me when I am a Paramedic."

We couldn't agree more, and we're incredibly proud to have been part of Matthew's journey.
