Important Business Update**
I am now ready to share.
After careful consideration of many months I made the difficult decision to close Louise Bain Aesthetics Academy
This decision has not been made lightly. The forthcoming regulatory changes affecting the aesthetics industry, together with the Government’s lack of proper consultation, have created significant uncertainty for practitioners, clients and small businesses. Let alone the training sector
We understand that the Government was counselled by a peer group consisting of medical practitioners ; however, non-medical practitioners were not included in this process. As a result, I believe the wider purpose of ensuring patient and client safety has been overlooked. And we could see newly trained nurses overseeing Expert Aesthetic practitioners who are already qualified in regulated certificates . The Exclusion or experienced non-medical practitioners from the conversation was an error and could drive parts of the aesthetics industry underground, potentially making clients less safe rather than more protected.
Aesthetics services are expected to come under **Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS)** oversight and be overseen by nurses.
In addition, various Ofqual aesthetics qualifications have currently been placed on hold
**Current students will be supported to complete their qualifications; however, this creates an uncertain future for many practitioners and academies, while also making it increasingly difficult for training providers to plan and deliver appropriate education.**
While I fully support sensible regulation, high professional standards and the safety of every client, the current approach has placed considerable pressure on businesses and training providers across the sector.
I am incredibly grateful to every client over the past 13 years who has supported my business, trusted me with their care and contributed to its journey and all my students and colleagues over the years.
I am extremely blessed to have worked closely with the team Oncology Headed up by Linda Hammel and work alongside Bossom Buds as well as Breast friends and family, Hazel and the amazing ladies there too. For over 9 years.
Your loyalty, kindness and encouragement have meant more than I can express.
Thank you Louise ###
