Many people don't like talking on the phone & find it difficult to open up to friends and family. Some people would be more comfortable texting. It's a service run alongside Samaritans. Some Clients I'm finding are suffering with emotional issues, are fed up with the lack of help from their GPs or they simply just dont want a prognosis of Depression, Anxiety etc put on their medical records in case it effects them in later life for jobs etc.
I do understand the dispondancey with GPs, as most just hand out anti depressants that just mask your symptoms. What is really needed is to find out what the problem is, confront it, and learn to control it, not it control you.
