Worried about your scar after surgery? Prone to raised or keloid scars?
Sometimes a surgical wound heals well, but the scar continues to become red, thick, raised, firm, itchy or uncomfortable. If you are prone to hypertrophic or keloid scarring, there are treatment options available to help manage the process and improve the final appearance.
The pictures above illustrate the expected progression:
📸 First image: approximately few weeks after surgery, showing a raised, red and active scar.
📸 Second image: before the treatment, a keloid with the scar which after the injections become flatter, softer and less red.
📸 Third image: illustrates the further improvement achieved over the following months, as scar remodelling . Further treatment sessions may sometimes be required.
Appropriate scar management can help reduce thickness, redness, firmness, itching and discomfort and improve the overall appearance of the scar.
Scar maturation takes time, and every person responds differently. Early assessment can be particularly valuable when a scar appears to be becoming increasingly raised or active.
Worried about the outcome of your surgery or think you may be developing a keloid? Solutions exist.
