Let's do a quick balance check together! š
One of the simple tests I regularly do in clinic is asking people to stand on one leg.
It sounds easy... until you try it!
But this little test can tell us a lot about our strength, coordination, confidence and overall resilience.
If you'd like to give it a go, here's how:
āļø Stand next to a kitchen counter or wall for support if needed.
āļø Lift one foot off the floor.
āļø See if you can balance for 10 seconds.
Don't worry if you wobbleāthat's completely normal!
This isn't about getting a perfect score. It's about becoming aware of where you are today.
Good balance helps us feel more confident, reduces the risk of falls and keeps us doing the things we love as we get older.
And here's the best part...
⨠Balance is something we can improve.
Even practising for a minute or two while you're brushing your teeth or waiting for the kettle to boil can make a real difference over time.
So, are you up for the challenge?
š Let me know in the comments:
⢠How many seconds did you manage?
⢠Did one leg feel steadier than the other?
I'd love to hear how you got on! š
